This is one of those questions I'm almost scared to ask, because I don't know if I really want to hear the answer. Searched the archives, but didn't see it addressed...

I LOVE drinking seltzer/carbonated water...is there any harm in it? I love regular water too, but seltzer is so nice when I want something different. Anybody know if it's "bad"??

I have Sproutmans book and he suggests making your own soda with seltzer water I believe it is and different combinations. Maybe it was Mineral water, or is that the same?

There are some who feel that carbonation in itself is bad. This was based on studies done with carbonated beverages which led the researchers to conclude that the carbonaton leaches calcium from our bones. However, more recently, others are disputing that and asserting that it is other factors in the drinks that cause calcium deficiency.

I believe that, as long as you're drinking naturally effervescent water (like Perrier of France, San Pellegrino of Italy and Gerolsteiner of Germany) rather than artificially carbonated, I think you're safe.

It's certainly better than drinking soda!

From what I've heard, we are supposed to exhale carbon dioxide, and it's unhealthy to be consuming it. That's about all I know aside from the issue of leaching the bones.

Natural is fine! Read that recently and also recived the infromation when I attended the NAtural Foods Expo last year - which I will be attending again this year.

Have you considered Rejuvelac as another option? I saw a recipe for Champagne Rejuvelac that reminded me, sort of, of a pink fizzy soda.

Mmmm...just found that recipe online. I'll have to try it! Thanks for the info!

And RawTruth....thanks for that info too. It makes perfect sense to do the natural effervescent instead of the artificial (which is what I've been drinking!). I have no problem with making that switch...other than $$ and I can handle that if it makes my health better.

Thanks y'all!
