Ahhh where to begin?
I started my raw journey ten days ago. I was inspired by an amazingly gorgeous, energetic, fitness model and friend named Joanne Gero who is a raw foodie and a huge advocate of the lifestyle. I made the transition to vegetarianism a year ago but even that still left me feeling bloated, fat and generally queasy most of the time (not to mention left me with an allergy to soy) so, with a little help from Jo, I started to learn about the amazing benefits of eating raw, live foods.
I did some research, bought what I knew would be my own private kitchen essentials and haven't looked back since. But it hasn't been easy - not even a little bit! I live, quite literally, in the middle of NOWHERE in the African bush. This means that everything - and I truly mean EVERYTHING - has to be either flown in or driven in on a weekly lorry, which makes getting fresh food difficult at best and some things just plain impossible. Needless to say I'm finding my culinary options limited and am worried that I'm not getting enough variety in my diet to truly reap the benefits of raw...Guess I'll save that for the discussion forum. Maybe I'll find some insight there.
ANYWAYS! Just wanted to say hi, I'm here, I'm open, willing and ready to learn. I desperately want to be successful at this, for my health (and sanity)'s sake!
TIA
