I have completed 34 days of water fast on 14th June. I resumed eating for 7 days from 15th-21st June. I realized i have gained some weight during those 7 days so i have decided to start another long water fast. this time the duration will be 25 days. today is day 6. i dont find it as hard as my 1st water fast. In fact i feel great. hopefully i will succeed.:)

After you rid the digestion tract of ALL Food, then resume eating again, you should expect to weigh more.

Hi,
I'm no expert but perhaps you should read my BLOG
www.shannonweiley.com
I am RAW and not losing fat, yet muscle as I am not getting enough protein- that's just been in 3 weeks so imagine what you're doing to your body not eating at all?
Are you consulting dieticians, GP's or naturopaths?

Shannon,
You bring up a really good point.
Would you recommend putting amino acids in juices to get the important parts of protein back?
And Satto, congratulations on having such an easy time the second time around! May I ask how much you lost/gained on the fast and afterwards?

Be careful, please listen to you body if it says enough water fast, don't sweat it. Get some sunlight as much you can.
I read that for a 40 days water fast, the last 6-7 are very challenging and it should be a time of meditation etc... to focus. You almost did a 40 days.
Your body goes on starvation mode and you will be constantly hungry when you stop, you should try to get some information on how to brake the fast.

Dear Satto,
I must say I'm a bit worried about your fast. If I remember correctly, you said in an other thread that you had an eating disorder and hoped that the fast would help you feel better with your body and in your relationship to food.
Please, understand it is normal to gain some weight after a long water fast. Eating means having weight in your intestines. It's normal to gain weight after a fast (where your digestive system is completely empty).
Second thing, your body violently reacted at the end of your first long water fast. I'm not sure that only eating a week can be enough for your body to be able to go through a second long water fast. Plus, this week, I'm sure you did not actually eat but simply juiced or drank smoothies in order to let your body gently readapt to solid food.
Actually knowing that there's no one medically supervising you, I'm afraid for your health. Please, you should wait before a longer fast. And please, think about it, fasting is not something you can do all year long, or this is called anorexia. And it's far from being healthy.
I don't want to sound rude, but I'm truly worried. Please, take care of yourself and love yourself. Don't jeopardize your health because your dislike the number of pounds you weight.

i see no problem with you doing another fast... my only concern is how you broke your water fast. breaking it with food isn't very gentle on your body.
but, that said, it's your body and you get to make those decisions for you. no one knows your body like you do.
(((hugs))) for your fast. :)
edited to add: if you do have an eating disorder then perhaps you do need to really check in with your Self before doing another fast. it's normal for me to gain 10 pounds after fasting... nothing odd about that one. i figure 6 pounds is feces alone!

I don't know if you want to follow my chosen way, but I feel much better, when I disregard pounds completely. I got rid of my scale, because it feels like bondage and control to me. When I use to weigh myself, if I wouldn't loose how much I projected, I would get dissapointed, and then start overeating just to supress that feeling.
Ultimately you want to feel good in your body and even more deeply - good about whole yourself. So the key is to learn to love yourself unconditionally, truly unconditionally.
I believe that we are so much more than our physical game we call life, and absolutely nothing that you did, didn't do, said, how you look like can't overrride the eternal value that we all have. We are all of value, we are good just because we are. We came to this Earth to grow and have fun. Not to try to please others and feel guilty.
The funny thing is that loving yourself and loving others is the same. When you consistently aprove of yourself, and focus on your own positive aspects, you will automatically do it to others too. It is a process, but fun one.
Good luck!

Weight is a very poor indicator of when or why one should fast. It's how the body feels that matters. After all toxins are removed, it is expected to gain weight when eating is resumed.
There is a very big difference between functional weight and excess weight. Functional weight is very GOOD, you want it. Excess weight, not so much.
