Hi Rawkers! I would like to ask you please, for a bit of advice.
I go green all day. NO issue. breakfast, lunch, snacks, etc. but nights i have BAD sweet cravings. the main thing that kills it are cake glazed donuts. Im SORRY but its TRUE.
so, im trying to put together a REALLY sweet natural alternative.
ok, so i LOVE to blend. so greens are a must. but what to add to kill a Raw Killer Craving? (RKC)
im thinking, Bananas for sure, and fresh Pineapple. (NOT a pienapple debate thread so PLEASE just dont ok?)
maybe add a packet of Stevia?
what else is SUH-WEET that you can think of that will blend well and kill a RKC??
thank you SO much peoples in advance!
Matthew
P/s raw as i can be, and trying to get better!

Ani Phyo has a recipe for raw donut holes. I don't have it in front of me, but it will pop right up if you google it. I've never made them, but they look really good and would probably approximate the texture of cake donuts. HTH!

dates are sweet, too :)
maybe if you froze your bananas and dates, you could make some kinda "raw icecream" & stick some greens in there for good measure.. :)
my dad has a major sweet tooth. he's been eating icecream almost every night.. he looks pregnant. LOL so i'm curious about this subject as well! definitely need to curb the sweet tooth. i've always been more of a savory/spicy person myself... but to each their own! raw icecream sounds good, though..
oh.. you could also make a raw fruit sorbet.. just put some fruit- like a peach, pineapple or a mango & some ice in your blender & add a packet of stevia (if you feel it necessary) & there ya go.

1 cup of pecan and 1 cup of date, then blend with food processor.
I find that it taste close to a donut.
You are probably detoxing and the old memories of these donut are coming to surface. I found myself craving for food that i haven't eat for decade while i was doing a detox program.
Hang in there, you are doing great!

jehote, the last thing you need to be doing is beating yourself up about a craving, especially with your dad being so ill.
We all have comfort foods for a reason. Familiarity and the physical sensation of fat in the mouth are biggies for a lot of people. Your brain is stressed, and your body is saying to the brain, "Hey, remember when you ate that box of Krispy Kremes and how great it felt? How all that sugar and fat soothed your frazzled nerves? Let's do it again!"
I remember back during pregnancy cravings that the old folks would tell me that I needed some nutrient that was in the food I craved. Of course, these were the same grannies who told me not to look at a rooster being butchered or let the town drunk talk to me or I would risk "marking the baby." But you get my drift.
My sincere best wishes for your dad. I've been there, and it's not a happy place.

Here are some sweet things i enjoy:
-strawberries with raw agave nectar
-pitted dates and I usually stick a nut inside (i like to play with my food)
-i make my own larabars consisting of dates, macademia nuts, walnuts, then depending on the flavor i want i add: option 1- vanilla, cinnamon, cloves or 2. ginger, thin chops of carrots + raisins or 3.-raw cacao

Add some dates or honey to your smoothies. Also, these are kind of a comfort food for me:
Fudge Balls
1 cup sunflower seeds
1 cup dates
1/4 cup carob powder
Blend all in a food processor until moist. Will be kind of crumbly, but should roll into balls nicely. Best when chilled.
They're not super sweet, but really hit the spot when you're having a chocolate craving. I use regular dates, but medjool dates would make them sweeter if that's what you need.
Raw carob can be kinda hard for me to find locally. I get mine from ebay. Just type "raw carob powder" in their search bar and you should be able to find some.

I'm sorry about your Dad and all your challenges this week. Here is an awesome smoothie that will for sure fill your need for sweet smoothness.
4 dates soaked for 5 min. in warm water
1 banana
1 Tbsp almond butter
6 oz. almond milk(I just used store bought-I know I shouldn't)
1 tsp maple syrup
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Put in blender and blend!
So creamy and thick. Mmmmm.
Keep trying on the coffee etc. Little steps.:)

So do you mean your doing greens and veggies all day? If you are having incontrollable cravings for sweets, thats your bodies cue you're not eating enough carbs from fruit. And as fruit is less filling that complex carbs like cakes, breads, pastas and cooked starches you will immediately run to that to get rid of the craving quickly.
I find breakfast and lunch so easy to do, but if i don't eat a lot of fruit before my green or veggie dinner i will be craving sweets like nobodies business. You have to set yourself up for success. Your body is never wrong in what it needs, it might be misdirected in the foods it's triggering you to eat. But you clearly need more glucose and your body is crying for it.

Sorry about all the troubles you and your family are dealing with. I went through it with my Mom. Sometimes I was able to stay strong and raw, other times I would get depressed and figure what was the point. If you can do it, and I think you can, staying strong and raw is so much better.
There are lots of great ideas posted here for taking care of an evening sweet tooth. I used to get the desire for ice cream at night. A blend of almond milk, dates, and frozen fruit took care of that. Eventually I lost the desire for late night treats.
I'm sure you can find a substitute for the donuts. Keep trying until you do! :)

this helped me the first few weeks I was 100%.
FP on, drop in some almonds slowly - maybe 2 handfulls.
add frozen banana, like 2 banana cut into 6 pieces each and frozen.
Drizzle in water till an cie cream like consistency emerges.
Simple, tasty, satisfying.
I called it banana almond crunch.
Like rawknitser - after a few weeks, the need for it just went away.

2 big handfuls of spinach
2 pears
liberal pineapple
blue berries
2 oranges
3 bananana
spring water
this made 3 big drinks i took to work for breakfast, lunch, and 4:00 pre-going to the gym drink.
i also ate bananas an a few apples between meals!
oh, and tonight i ate a BIG salad with good stuff and grapes with lemon juice. (i HATE dressings)
i also am not craving donuts......hmmmm......
EDIT!! im going to look for a chopper thing for tomorrow to play with my food and try to make Lara Bars. i found a knock off receipe online! and the pecans and dates thing sounds good to!

have you tried a nut butter in a celery stick (or 8) and drizzle it with either:
a) cacao sauce - take raw cacao and mix with agave/honey and water
b) raw honey
c) agave
this does it for me.
very sorry to hear about your dad (((hugs))) to you both
