These two together are delicious. I use almond butter and spread that on Granny Smith apple slices, this so far has been my favorite dessert since going raw.

I have read that this is improper food combining. If it's raw, what the heck, I say. However, many say that the commercial nut butter isn't really raw. What are your opinions, please?

Its not raw unless it says it is on the label, from what I understand. Almond butter is very easy to make at home, and that is what I do. It comes out less expensive that way for me.

it's true, there are a few brands of nut-butters that say "RAW" on the label - but they are really pricey! (around $16. per small jar)
I usually just run any nuts (almonds, walnuts, etc.) thru a champion juicer with a homogenizing blank in place, adding a bit of raw/virgin olive or coconut oil if desireable- to thin the mixture, put in jar - and that's it.
* probably keeps in the refrigerator 2-3 days - :p

I put dry almonds into a coffee grinder and grind them to a chunky paste add some cinnamon and then a little bit of water to mix it into a creamy texture by hand. It always turns out good for me....I've even added raw carob powder in it to spread onto a banana...I love those choc covered frozen bananas rolled in almonds and this reminds me of that.

The e-mail about the corn? I did get that one, did you get mine back?

I make a mix of large chopped green apples and plain raw almonds. This snack extends the flavor of the nuts without going overboard. By using raw almonds I avoid the almond butter issue.
