Hello everyone. Over a month ago I got bronchitis and I ended up taking antibiotics. After that I got my very first yeast infection, I didn't treat it cuz I had barely any symptoms, I only knew cuz I just happened to get my yearly pap while I hate it. Well now I have a bladder infection and they want me to take antibiotics again. I say no way, I was perfect before all of this, antibiotics messed me up.

What can I do naturally to help myself? My friend said yogurt but there's no way I wanna eat that. She also said cranberry juice, any truth to that? Can I make some raw myself somehow instead of store bought?

Please help, thank you.

Sorry if this is too much info or in the wrong spot I just need some advice badly.

All good suggestions from artgirly.

I like to drink cranberry tea just because it tastes good. BIJA (http://www.florahealth.com/flora/home/USA/Products/TGU7.htm#63952) is my favorite brand (cranberry w/rooibos), but there are other brands as well. BIJA claims there are 2,000mg of cranberry in each teabag, the equivalent of taking 4 - 500mg capsules. Probably not as good as putting cranberries in a smoothie, but in this case more wouldn't hurt.

Speaking of hurting, if you are in a lot of pain, especially if it spreads to your abdomen or legs, or you start feeling fatigued, you might want to reconsider taking the antibiotic. If you do, make sure you drink a pint of water with each pill, and drink at least 3 quarts a day. All the extra water will help prevent another yeast infection. Also take some probiotics, and continue taking them after the course of antibioitics.

Hope you feel better soon.

I agree with the above as well. I like freeze dried cranberry capsules by Eclectic Institute. That's always worked well for me, and lots of water. Grapefruit Seed Extract is amazing for any kind of bug or infection. I would also consider a good probiotic supplement.

I hope you get better soon.

Actually just got over a yeast infection myself (not a bladder infection).

Did the following:
-Eat no fruit or sugar or gluten or caffeine or alcohol until it's gone
-Eat 3 cloves of garlic per day
-Take 1000mg vitamin C 3x/day
-Take a probiotic 3x day
-Water fasted for the first day and a half of treatment
-Applied tea tree oil diluted in vegetable oil to the area directly 3x/day

That pretty much got rid of it.

Ok one more question I'm sorry. My friend who wants to be a nurse is freaking out about how serious a bladder infection is and how I should take the antibiotics or else I could get kidney problems and that I am being irresponsible. Is it true that this is too serious to treat naturally? She's kinda freaking me out.

If it was me, I would take the antibiotics. You can recover from the side affects of the medication easier than complications from a bladder infection.

Just my opinion. I have no knowledge of the seriousness of your situation and in any case am not qualified to give advice on it.

A. She's trained in the medical model which is: Our bodies are sick; they do not have the wisdom to heal themselves. A specialist must tell us what to do, we do it without questions, and then we'll be okay.

B. How dedicated are you to treating it "naturally?" You must be certain of this. If the mind-body-spirit connection isn't strong and grounded, you'll sabotage it (unconciously). How suspectible are you to an "expert" freaking out?

C. What does natural mean to you? Are you 100% raw? I'm sure there are women who have successfully treated UTIs without drugs who aren't 100% raw, but you're asking this on a raw vegan forum, so I think this is a fair question. It makes a difference in the advice I would give you.

D. How severe is it? Does it only burn when you pee or is there pain all the time? If so, where is it?

E. How dedicated are you to treating it "naturally? (Yep, I know I'm repeating myself!) It may take weeks or even months to get rid of it completely. It will require rest -- lots of rest -- in addition to herbs, teas, a change in your diet, and other things. However, if you are totally on board, you can definitely create the conditions for your body to heal itself.

That bears repeating -- the key to kicking this infection is creating the conditions to allow your body to heal itself.

If you're still wanting to do it, I have some guidelines to add to the others.

(p.s. It goes without saying -- although I'll say it! -- that I'm not a medical professional and am not dispensing medical advice. My questions and answers are in the area of education.)

I'm not 100% raw food vegan, slowly heading that way which is why I come to this board.

As far as what the Dr said he said the test results should come back in 3-4 days and then to come in for a perscription for antibiotics. He wanted to give me the perscription right on the spot but I didn't want it after what antibiotics did to me last time.

What I would like to do is do smoothies for a few days and then fast for a few days. If this is more serious then maybe I will take the antibiotics and then fast after them with lots of fresh juice to clean myself out and heal.

I just wanna figure out what is going to work for me.

Right now the pain feels like it's in my lower uterus which I guess it's not if it's a bladder infection that's just closest to where I feel this constant pressure. It doesn't hurt when I pee, and other then feeling like I am bloated in my uterus nothing else seems abnormal. But it is not comfortable, I actually thought I was pregnant cuz of the way it felt, but I am not.

To be compeatly honest I don't wanna spend months and lots of money treating it naturally, if I can't do it sooner I don't wanna leave an infection in my body for months while I try heal it.

So i'm not sure where to go from here... especially cuz i don't have the money to pay for the antibiotics if I do need them...

My main feeling is that I really want to fast, is that a good idea?

a GOOD QUALITY colloidal silver or 'ionic silver' is supposed to work well for things like that. i've never had a bladder infection, but i use colloidal silver for lots of things. it's an effective antibiotic, antiviral, etc. and no side effects, but make sure you get one with a small particle size. i'd google for info on it, if you were interested.

hope you get more advice, though. good luck!

I say do what YOU feel is best for you. Don't react out of someone elses fear. I've cured my own bladder infections with cranberry juice before and it wasn't even raw juice and it was before I was even raw. I just drank lots of cranberry juice and lots of water. I ate normal meals as well. I'm not saying that's what YOU have to do. Make your own informed decision.

Hi,
I only read your post not the thread, so I am sorry if this information has been stated or the post is on another topic.:D

Garlic - natural antibiotic, immune enhancer. some books state that garlic will not kill the good bacteria.

Vitamin C - produces antibacterial effect through acidification of the urine. Important immune function. (eat lots of raw food high in vitamin C)

Avoid Citrus, as it will alkaline the urine.

Acidophilus/Probioctics - repopulate the gut with good bacteria. the gut needs about 2 pounds of friendly bacteria. To support the immune system and ward off bad bacteria.

Vitamin E - combats infecting bacteria

Cranberries - produces hippuric acid in the urine, which acidifies the urine and inhibits bacterial growth

Cranberries - keep the bad bacteria from adhering to the lining of the bladder.

Fresh Blueberries or Bilberry - the anthocyanidins presented in the pigment, is said to be as useful as cranberries

Natural diuretics to help flush the bad bacteria - celery, parsley, watermelon

Herbs
burdock have antibacterial properties and is diuretic

Hi,
Which colloidal silver do you use? One of my books did recommend, colloidal silver for bladder infection.

I know cranberries, garlic, vitamin c, acidophilus and lots of water will resolve this challenge, so I did not recommend CS in my post.

Although I am interested in this product.

My friend in college used to get rid of UTIs by fasting on cranberry juice for 2 days. The low sugar kind I imagine is the best.
