I was wondering what foods or supplements were good to cleanse the liver?? I've read about having build up in liver and it being responsible for a host of illnesses/diseases....diabetes, insulin resistance, etc. Does anyone know how to make sure your liver is actively processing what it should be?? Thank you!

Oh, just buy those detox teas...good enough. I get mine from Jewels-Osco, or Whole Foods...Yogi Detox Tea.

Milk Thistle and dandelion root are usually recommended for liver cleansing. Also beet juice. I know there's others, but these three come to mind pretty quickly.

Ditto Raw Joy's answer. You can also check out Alissa's liver cleanse (here on the forum in the first section somewhere or in her book), or any number of other liver cleanses. I myself do one every January with Jon Barron (google him), it's an online world-wide effort with inspiration and help.
Your liver is the most important organ for keeping you healthy. It's the only one that can truly regenerate, as long as it functions at higher than 35%. Once it drops below that magic number, you will not survive. (I believe that's why chemo really kills cancer patients in the long run, even those that are theoretically "cured" by surviving 5 years.)

In addition to eating lots of greens and fruits, I like Liver Rescue by Healthforce Nutritionals. You can read more about it at Healthforce Nutritionals (http://www.healthforce.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=garden_flypage.tpl&product_id=41&category_id=2&keyword=liver+rescue&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=65)

I start every morning with a lukewarm glass of water with half of lemon, and aloe vera juice. The aloevera is for other benefits, but the lemon is really good for the liver. Google lemon water, and you fill find a lot of information.

Also, do drink every morning water/lemon and add cayen pepper. You can skip the cayen pepper but it enhance the cleanse. Green apple will losen up stuff.

A friend of mine got himself into serious liver problems by drinking to much alcohol. If your experiencing liver problems it might be a good idea to avoid booze for awhile.
