Hi, I'm only just about to start going totally raw but I am concerned about the amount of toxins in my body from the drugs I've had to take to combat a serious type of depression. I take an antipsychotic and an antedepressant and have done for years.

Has anyone else been in a similar position? I don't know whether it would be best to see a nutritionist to see if I should take some supplements as an interim measure? Obviously, I will carry on taking the medication for some time as i've been dependent on it for such a long time but I am hoping that my body might heal itself of this illness. However, in the meantime I know that my hormones are all over the place because of the side-effects of these drugs.

You are going to have to make a lot of judgments for yourself and cut back on the drugs as much as you can tolerate.
Make sure that you get plenty of exercise as that will naturally raise your serotonin levels.
Other than that the most important thing is that you eat what makes you happy as that is the best guarantee that you will stick with it.

Thanks sport - it does seem that there's not that much info around about this. I rang a nutritionist today for advice as I feel a bit out of my depth as I have other medication to come off too and I may go to her for help as she said she would speak with my doctor (who is very pro medication). I don't want my system to get too out of balance with all these chemicals bouncing around and apparently I have to watch what supplements I take etc).

(Or I may change my doctor (!) and go to someone more sympathetic with a nutritional approach).

I think that changing your doctor is a very good idea. You need one that has your interests at heart and not that of the drug company.
