So i'm at work, talking to my co-worker whose mother just suffered a stroke. She has previously had a heart attack. Now, she doesn't know the names of her own children.

My co-worker is upset, of course, and is now reading a book about strokes. She mentioned that now she's concerned about her own risk of getting a stroke, and this was the perfect opportunity for me to butt in (i couldn't help myself) and i mentioned it was perhaps a lifetime of eating animal products (me included, of course, especially with my chocolate) and i told her about John Robbins and just touched on all of this briefly and gently. Her eyes widened and she said eating no animal products is too extreme and she couldn't do that, that was just too hard to do.

The irony is that i was handed a prescription for a statin drug last year, which i never filled because when i mentioned it to her, SHE told me about all the side effects her mother had taking this nasty drug. It was then that i started doing some research that led me to vegetarianism, vegan and raw eating, the latter of which i had never heard about. So she helped me, and now i'm trying to "gently" repay the favor. Sometimes just a small mention like this gets a person's interest or curiosity enough to read a little and change their life. That's how it happened for me.

She is overweight and her husband weighs over 400 pounds. :((

I'm not saying anything else to her, just wanted to share this....

Yeah, we are a weird bunch. Might want to hand her a copy of Eating (http://www.revvellations.com/shopping/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5&products_id=9&zenid=9dab9e837f485d5c955a310a9bebc0b1) and let her go 'bout her biz or, if she and you are close enough, maybe invite her over to view it? Don't know if that's proper at this level of your co-working relationship.

Good idea, but we're not that close. I'm not going to even mention it ever again, until someone asks me how i lost 100 pounds hopefully next year!! Then i can brag!! Wow, that "Eating" DVD just blew me away, i made my whole family watch that.
