a bit disappointing. I thought someone would be able to help. Guess not. Oh well. Guess there's no one educated enough in this scenario to be of any help.

eta: I'm ready to cry. I don't know what to do. I could really use some help with this. How am I supposed to eat raw or eat period if so many things have potassium? can anyone please help me?

I've been prescribed HBP meds as I can't get my BP down. Granted, I strayed a bit from eating raw (as many of us struggle with), but I've still been dedicated to eating healthy and not including no no's like red meat, sodium, etc. I'm really concerned about what I can eat now because I have to watch my potassium intake and many of the foods I love have lots of potassium in it!! is anyone here on or formerly on ACE inhibitor meds that can give me an idea what you ate? I'm wanting to get to at least 85% raw again (I'm about 50 right now I'd say) to help continue dropping the lbs. and hopefully my BP will drop along with it (here's hoping!). My docs said I am doing everything right as far as diet (according to a SAD diet), no dairy, no red meat, no sodium, no processed foods....mostly I just eat veggies and some oatmeal. But I LOVE parsley (salad) and green veggies, now I'm worried I'll mess up my heart with an overload of potassium. Help!

Sounds like you're asking for help and doing a Put Down at the same time??? What's up with That?

You should talk with a Dietician, your Dr. should have on Staff. Also do a "SEARCH" at the top of this page. You not only need to eat right........You need to EXERCISE Also.

Education is one's Own responsibility.......

Why exactly don't they want you having potassium?

I was getting frustrated. and no it wasn't trying to be a put down, it was simply a statement that perhaps no here was educated in the question I was asking, no put down intended - frustration speaking so perhaps it came across wrong.

I exercise DAILY. I bike for an hour a day, which equals about 8-10 miles depending on which route I take. I also try to do 20-40 minutes of Pilates during the day if I can fit it in, so I've exercised my butt off. I did a search and came up with nothing that helped. I've searched the internet, and the only thing I can find for my situation is to eat a low potassium diet and restrict my number of fruits and vegetables (WTH?) because of the higher potassium content in most vegetables - especially the veggies I like to eat.

the pharmacist and info I've read on the medication is that it causes a build up of potassium in the body and that eating high potassium foods can cause problems, i.e. heart attack.

Have you talked this over with your Doctor? I've always thought Potassium aided BP. Have you had Blood Work..chlosterol etc. done? Sometimes HBP is caused from Clogged Arteries. What is your Family History and HBP?
