Hi everyone! Wow, day 18, i've been raw for 2 months now, that's pretty amaxzing

Got my period today, two weeks late almost. it could be stress, but i'm also suspecting raw has something to do with it. i guess my body just needs a little time to adjust to this new way of life

Just started a blog, where i'll write more about food, the hugest thing in my life right now. i'm actually thinking about going to the us and study to be a raw/living food chef... i just wanna be in the kitchen all the time, and a lot of what i make turns out just great, so i thought it'd be a nice idea to share!

Today i've had..
B- buckwheat, apple, mylk, seeds, dates and 2 avocados
L - salad buffet at vegetarian restaurant
S - sampling raw choclate that i'll be using in my chocolate mousse for my family's midsummer party tomorrow. A midsummer night's dream...
S - pear and orange
S - sampling batters for Mortal Sin Cake (recipe challange finally finished!!!)
Peace

I just started raw food after being vegan & overweight for the past year+. I've been doing it for 6 days & just discovered this site. This is fabulous!
I'm afraid though that I see so many bananas being eaten. I HATE bananas! They seem to be the staple of everyone's diet & smoothies. Any suggestions of a comparable substitute as far as consistency in foods.
Thanks!

Hmm...maybe avocados? I don't really like bananas either, they spike my blood sugar too much. But avocados have that creamy consistency.

I actually took a bite of a donut this morning! but I ended up spitting it out. The sugariness was almost painful. I felt like it stung my mouth. What a good sign!

So far I've had a spicy, savory green smoothie (lots of scallion, dandelion greens, curry, cayenne, salt, and some cacao), and more then my fair share of coconut butter.

I ran out of all my food last night, so today was not so great and not enough food. I planned on getting bananas for breakfast before work, but at the grocery they were all completely green so I had to go for something else easy, very quick to eat, no prep needed and portable- ended up being a lara bar. Oh well. Then my salad greens at lunch were mostly bad, so I salvaged the ok leaves and the rest went to the guinea pigs at the shelter and I went without my gigantic salad! I did the best I could today, but tomorrow will be back to normal!

-lara bar, apple
-small-ish salad w/ baby romaine, carrots, red pepper, tomato, small avo, vinegar; another apple
-my last apple after work- was sooooo hungry I thought I might faint!
-2 bananas; half bag of baby carrots & 1/3 head of cauliflower
-2 more bananas

Maybe more later (fruit)- that's low for all the running around I did today.

I dehydrated some sprouted buckwheat yesterday so I tried that for breakfast with almond milk and about 2 T of currants. It was barely OK and it shot up my blood sugar so will not be having that again. It would be good with nuts and honey in a raw granola but that would be even worse for the blood sugar, so that will have to wait awhile till I lose quite a few pounds!
Lunch was an avocado with about 1/4 cup seed cheese.
Supper is a big green salad with balsamic vinegar dressing. So excited that my grocery store had organic balsamic vinegar on sale for $2.49 a bottle. I bought 10!
I made some things to put in the dehydrator to take camping this weekend. Garlic bread and almond cookies. They smell pretty good. Probably not the smartest to put them in the dehydrator at the same time. My cookies will taste of garlic!
I feel pretty good today.... a little bit of detox weakness and fatigue this afternoon but not too bad. When you have fibromyalgia you are used to feeling that way most of the time!
I notice other people say when they start raw, they want to eat all the time. I have the opposite reaction, I have little appetite and have to make myself eat. That is ok, I have plenty of fuel to burn!

DoingItRight - LOVE your username. Welcome! Sorry, I don't have any suggestions for the banana substitution because I love them. Although I've never eaten as many as I have since going raw. You can probably find some ideas by searching through this website.

Today was a little hard because I had a big meeting at work and we ordered pizza for lunch. I had my kale salad that I brought with me but I was really tempted to have a slice. But I resisted and am very happy that I did. I've got to give the raw pizza a try. Maybe I'll try it this weekend.

granola with blueberries and almond milk
2 kiwi fruit, blueberries, pineapple, chopped apple with lemon and lime juice and honey
Kale salad with chopped tomatoes, chopped orange bell pepper, avocado, salt, pepper
baby carrots
raw trail mix
corn “chips”, tomato flax crackers topped with “taco meat”, Alissa’s “sour cream” (I ate a lot of these, they were really good)
cantaloupe
64 oz water total

Yes try it. My local organic market makes it and it is really good, probably the best (cold :-) pizza I've ever had. They use dehydrated onions in the crust and layer it with spinach and then load up the veggies on top of that. Are you going to make it? Good luck with it and let us know if you do!;)

Where does everybody get the flax crackers? I'd love to try them, but over here in NH, it's not the most raw-food friendly place. I think there's an organic food store in the next town over....or is everyone making them?
Thanks for the help.

Once again I didn't get to write on this board the day of....oh well... :P

Thursday was hard for me as we were out doing errands and were out MUCH longer than we had anticipated (about 4 hours longer!) so we had to pick up some supper. I got the most raw thing I could find. I would have rathered had a fruit drink but all of the fruit smoothie places in the food court said that they have frozen yogurt in their drinks. I had to ask because it wasn't listed on the menu where they list what is in each drink! I am still little frustrated that they don't say that in the lists  Even if I was to make an exception I can't because I am lactose intolerant.

Needless to say what I did eat made me very sick about 30 minutes later! :( So, I guess I am at that clean wall stage that I have read soemwhere before....being (99%) raw has made my wall so clean one speck of dirt is VERY noticeable! I guess that is a good thing since it means I will not be tempted to eat those things anymore :)

katchmoleen -I wouldn't worry too much about dehydrating different things. I guess it can depend on the dehydrator but I use an Excalibur and will dehydrate kale chips, pancakes, cookies, onions all at the same time and none seem to pick up the smell or flavor of the others, so go nuts! :)

We got into an interesting discussion with the staff about the possibility of immortality. And how all our attempts at longevity really don’t matter if we don’t have a spiritual purpose and commitment too our growth. Great conversation!
