View Full Version : Question for the Muscle builders - Chlorella as a PWO drink?

Do you think chlorella is ok for a PWO drink?
Time and effort is a factor, so I've been trying to KISS.
I've been putting 2-3 table spoons of chlorella into a dry water bottle in the morning.
After my lunchtime fitness routine, I add water - shake it up and drink.
Any thoughts on how effective it is as PWO? Any simple ways to tweak it up if not?
Thanks, y'all!

oooh ok Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I use it as a post work out drink.
I dont know how you could tweak it up. Maybe adding it to a smoothie with some greens and banana ??

RawSar - you do use it?
I only want to change it if it isn't sufficient - cuz it is super easy!

Ran out of cholorella - so todays was:
Mint, hemp, banana, and goji. Pretty tasty! But took about 15 minutes to prep this morning - plus transport to work.

T-Bird-why does it take 15 minutes when it should be only a couple of minutes? is it because you have a regular blender or make a large batch?

Notwell.....
First I find my scissors, walk into the yard and harvest the mint....... (4) Getting out the door and getting to the mint itself is a full minute right there.
Tear leaves off the stems, place in bowl with soapy water, agitate, then rinse.... (3-4)
get hemp seeds and goji from the fridge, measure and place into blender, add mint, bananas, grab ice from freezer, crack and dump 6 cubes into blender (3 -4)
Whirr the blender (1-2)
empty into take along container (1)
Wash blender, cap and tamper (2)
Put away hemp, gojis, and left over mint stalks (1)
wipe down blender base and counter (1)
Even if the mint was in the fridge - it still wouldn't be that quick.
I'm from the julie morgenstern school of time management and always estimating, then noting actual time taken, and always focusing on becoming a better time estimator.
I think we'd like to think that just because the blender does it's work in 1-2 that that's how long it takes, but it's not.
Even just measuring out the chlorella into a clean dry water bottle takes about 2 minutes. Chlorella is very powedery and you need to move slowly. Even then - you'll have some green 'snow' on the counter that needs cleaning up.....

interesting... neat that you have your own mint and whatever else you harvest.

Why does everyone and also recipes call for multiple minutes in the Vitamix. I whir my smoothies for about 10 seconds max. Am I missing out on something!?

crushing the ice snoops!
And I make about 50 oz at once, 32 for me to take along, and a large portion for ds.....
if your only doing 15-24 oz, I guess a few seconds are good.
Also - kale and chard take more time, baby spinach, not so much....

post work out drinks are for replenshing and recovery and should be nutrient dense. I would get a raw green powder Greens7000) and shaker and go.

Ahhh. Gotta. Mine are smaller and I don't usually do ice although I did with a juice I just made and it chopped it in amazing time. Gotta love the Vitamix!!
