I want to make an avocado dish that uses portebello mushrooms (I need to use them before they go bad). I noticed a couple of recipes in Alissa's book and wondered if the combination would work (I'm not used to most of these flavors so I have no idea). There is a recipe for stuff avocado shells (you make a mixture with the avocado meat and tomatos and some other stuff) and also a recipe for ginger portabello caps which are supposed to be hydrated. I don't have a hydrator, but I thought maybe I could stuff the avocado mixture into the ginger-portabello caps. Have no idea if ginger would work with avacado. Please tell me if its sounds terrible so I don't waste my time and food. Thanks!

Okay this is my expert advice

You know what an expert is don't you?

an "x" is an unknown quantity
and a
"spurt" is a drip under pressure,

so there you have it.

I would make the avocado, tomato guacamole recipe,

then take a tiny bit and add some ginger (I don't think they will taste good together, but you may love it)
then

cut a small slice out of your portobella, and dip into the mixtures, and taste, if you like it, then slather it on top of the portobella and go for it, if you don't like it, then you can try other things.

good luck with it.

maybe marinated portabello steak sandwiches
with avo-mayo, a tomato slice and green leaves.

I did not do the ginger mushrooms, but I did make the avacado mix that you stuff back in the avacados and wow, oh wow...I loved it. With the braggs sauce poured over the top. My husband's eyes bugged out and he said, oh my god, this is sooooo good. I drissled the sauce over one of the mushroom caps and topped that with the mixture as well, and that was also good.

The portabello steak sandwich with avo mayo sounds awesome.

Mommamax 4 - I don't think that was the correct link, but I will look for that recipe in the forum. I still have both mushrooms and avos to use up.

Thanks!
