Hey guys, I was on a trip for two weeks and when I got back all my coconut oil had turned from its attractive white oil form into a clear liquid with a little bit of white residue at the bottom. I kept it in a dark area but I can imagine the power might have gone out and increased temperatures into the 80s while I was gone. What happened?

I believe its melting point is about 75 degrees. It's no problem.

It should be fine. it just warmed up and melted. At work we keep it in a 5 gallon bucket, and there's always some clear stuff on top. That stuff lasts a long long time...

As others said its melting point is just slightly above room temperature. I have AC so it's always solid here but I have a friend without air conditioning and in summer his is always liquid.

I buy coconut oil too and it liquifies and solidifies depending on the temperature in my house. It's fine. As I am writing this I just realized that the jar I keep in the kitchen for adding to food or smoothies stays solid while the jar I keep on the second floor of the house to use on my skin and hair changes from solid to liquid and back. I guess it's true what the say - heat rises! Anyway either way it's fine to use!:p

Liquid coconut oil is at least a bit easier to measure for recipes!

Coconut oil melts easily it will melt in the car on the way home from the store. It's fine though.LilacLavender made a good point when trying to measure it up you are able fill the oil up to the measurement line without having to do anymore work..
