My oldest daughter is taking a herbalist class, and found a great recipe that will help for those of us that struggle with staying regular. Here is the recipe..

Bowel Confection Formula

1 Pint of dried fruit (apples, figs, raisins, dates, etc..)
1 oz Ground Flax
1 oz Slippery Elm Bark (powder)
1 oz Licorice Root Bark (powder)
---Mix all together, add a little Molasses (not sure if that is raw?) to moisten.
---Form into balls

Roll in a mixture of carob powder and Slippery Elm Bark Powder.

----Store in fridge or freezer.

I have not tried these yet, but I am going to get the ingredients tomorrow.

i don't believe molasses is raw, but it sure is tasty! i use it in some of my vegan baking recipes.. my family loves vegan ginger snaps, so i bake 'em on holidays & stuff. :) (even my meat loving family members love 'em!! they said they were the best cookies they've ever had!.. so hey, it's a stepping stone!!!)

I am going to make these tomorrow, and was wanting your opinion on how to do the dried fruit mixture. Should I soak, or put in the processor? I want to make a dough (I guess??)
Any ideas??
Thanks
Cathy

When I read the recipe, I think you would just use the dried fruit. If the molasses didn't make it come together then you could add a little water to the food processor. On the other hand, I don't think soaking the fruit for 30 min or so would hurt. My feeling is that you can always add water if it's too thick, but you can't take water out if it's too thin (other than with a deydrator;) ).
