This last week, with trying so many new recipes for my son's campout, I've used a few ingredients that are not raw. :( All of it Vegan but some Regular. Our health food store was out of raw honey! Arrgh. Just an example. And I've tasted it...
--brown sugar;
--regular filtered honey;
--the rolled organic oats;
--almonds we have are irradiated;
--natural peanut butter;
--a little regular corn oil in the recipes;
--tofu (for jerky).
SO. Today I've had food cravings and felt a little bad (was also very tired due to short sleep). I'm not used to any appreciable amounts of fat, other than in avocados and raw nuts, and very little bits of olive oil. I think it's the bad fat (corn oil) in particular that is the issue with me -- I could REALLY taste it in the couple of treats I sampled. Yuck! Not sure how much difference the honey would create. But we've not been making "treats" either.
[We'll see how my son does with tofu jerky. (My dh will eat the raw mushroom and zucchini jerky.) I don't intend to keep making it but I judged it was something he needed to get through the week at camp.]
A major goal tomorrow and this week is to clean up my personal food, help my body detox, and I'm going to do that by being proactive with food prep. I have plenty of fruits and veg and LOTS of salad makings!
And a major goal this week is to find raw sources and substitutes for some of the ingredients above -- the ones I think we're really going to use -- so I don't get into this situation anymore! Be expecting questions and pleas for advice! I don't have Alissa's book anymore, can't wait to get it!
