I've been trying to quit...but I've noticed that now when I do smoke (only been raw a week) that I feel awful afterward. Anyone else deal with this when they first transitioned? Any tips for quitting naturally?

heres the thing coming from a raw ex smoker

smoking irritates your lungs and your lungs go into protection mode and create mucas etc. (morning smokers cough sound familiar? needing that smoke in the morning)

when you quit the body goes into superdrive and tries to expel all those accumulated toxins

just like detox you are gonna feel like crap for awhile .. it passes

its worth it :)

Haha yea I've quit before for a few weeks, but I always end up starting up again more out of habit then need. Just wondering, will staying raw eventually make it unbearable to smoke? That's kind of what I'm hoping for...

I smoked in my early twenties and quit cold turkey....never looked back and thats been over twenty years now. Doctors can give you patches to help with withdrawl.

I smoke, I have quit a couple times once for over a year and another time for 8 weeks. I also drink coffee - they kinda go hand in hand, when you quit one you don't want the other.

I'll get there eventually and I am not in any hurry to make anymore drastic changes to my lifestyle, I do hope, however, that my body will tell me it doesn't want either of them anymore just like it did with SAD.

i've been "cooking" for my parents... my dad is a heavy smoker.. the past two weeks he all of a sudden got "sick" and couldn't breathe very well.. his lungs started clearing themselves out & he's not had a cigarette in almost 2 weeks! lol his body can't handle them anymore! so right now he's sucking on commit lozenges... and slowly weening off of those. :) you can do it! :D

wow awesome! Thank you! As weird as it sounds I hope I get "sick" too lol so I can quit. I was debating on patches/gum but I'm kinda iffy about putting weird chemicles into my mouth to chew on or arm haha!

well.. my dad got to where he couldn't breathe when he smoked.. he thought he was gonna die (not being funny, he really thought that)... so he went to the doctor & the doctor gave him some steroid shot in the butt & from there he tried to go cold turkey on without smoking.. he went 4 days without nicotine & he said he wanted to rip everyone's faces off... lol so my grandmother (who doesn't smoke) gave him some commit lozenges that had 2mg or something like that of nicotine in them.. they were one of the lower levels of the commit lozenges.. so he has been sucking on those, just to get a little bit of nicotine & ease his transition to not smoking. he's not popping one in his mouth every 2 seconds or anything like that.. he really does try to be sparing with them & then the times when he feels like he needs one get longer and longer, so eventually he'll be off of nicotine all together. :) better him take a commit lozenge then rip anyone's face off. lol maybe you will have better luck, since you have not been smoking for as long as my dad. :)

Haha! Yea I haven't been smoking that long. Just a couple years. Glad to hear he's ok though! Well I'm down to two in my pack, so I think after tonight I'll just through that pack away and never buy one again. I just hope I have the strength to do it. I'm having a hard enough time just staying raw. I cheated today and yesterday a little bit =X

A friend who quit smoking told me if you brush your teeth after you have a smoke that helps alot, it did for me.
