I love Indian food and have successfully been able to re-format many recipes into my Vegan lifestyle with no problems. However, in my attempt to go 100% raw, making my favorite, dal, from yellow lentils may be my first real obstacle! Does anyone have any advice on how to make bean or legume dishes while staying raw?
thanks, this is my first post!

Welcome.
I am sorry that I can not help with your query as I do not eat beans of lentils but I am just saying that we are glad that you are joining us.

Welcome to RFT. Lentils can be eaten raw if you soak and sprout them just until a small tail starts to come out. The lentils must be whole and not split for them to be sproutable, I know red lentils are normally sold split and cannot be sprouted.
Have you managed to make raw versions of other indian recipes? I love indian food and would like some raw versions if you have any.
By the way, are there really yellow lentils? I've only seen green, blue/green, brown and red ones. Or did you mean yellow peas?
Thanks

but i think sprouts are very different from the taste of cooked beans
it is hard to say if someone like indian food, he/she will like the raw version of those beans

well.. you can always learn to like it. lol :) it's more about the aromatic spices than the beans... well, for me i mean. lol if i didn't like the beans, i could just find something else that the flavors would go better with, you know what i mean?.. i just love that aromatic stuff! i said this in a previous post- if curry was a perfume, i'd wear it. lol i just love the spice and mixture of aromatic flavors of indian food. sooooo nummy.

Why not try Cashew pieces, unsoaked and let it marinate with the other Vegetables and spices to soften them?
