Hi Everyone,

My intro - my name is corey, and i live in washington state. I have been a vegetarian for about 10 years now. Even though i eat no fish, eggs, meat, i still eat some dairy.(something i do want to stop) I do eat alot of organic fresh fruits, and veggies. I have always wanted to go completely Vegan, but its hard to give up certain things. I dont eat butter, or drink milk, or ice cream, but i do get some milk in some products like some breads.

Even though i have been a vegetarian for so long, i dont feel i am very healthy. I do sometimes drink smoothies, but rarely drink green smoothies.

I do have hypothyroidism, and i would like to heal it. My health is very important to me. I do feel like a raw diet is the only thing that will give me the best health and chance at beating this. Can anyone point me in the right direction on what "green drinks" everyone is having? I also need help on how to be totally RAW. Things like, do i need a dehydrater? can you recommend one? stuff like that.. I plan on doing as much research before taking the plunge, and i will defidently be scanning these boards frequently. Finally, I want to make a commitment to a year of being raw to see how this helps me.

How is everyone getting vitamin b12? I drink soy milk, and i would like to stop. In any event, i am coming from a vegetarian diet / almost a vegan diet, so i feel the transition to a raw diet shouldnt be too painful. I just need some help in what i need, so i am doing it right.

Any help is much appreciated!

Thank you,

Corey

I would advise you to take the "30 Day Challenge" while you are waiting for your Purchase of Alissa's Book, Living on Live Food, which you can find to the Left of this page.

The transition should not be so bad for you, being a Vegetarian. Although I was, I thought I could NOT give up CHEESE........but I did.

Yor are doing the right thing, going RAW, if you are Searching for your Healing. RAW will do that for you.

I wish you everything you need to Stay RAW..........Welcome to MY World.

Welcome.
You can either do a gradual process of change or jump in at the deep end. I did the latter and am glad that I did. I did not have a dehydrator to start with but got it within a couple of weeks. You also need a blender and a food processor. A juicer would help as well.
These are things that you can be getting or may already.
I found that going vegan was harder than going raw. I did miss cheese for a long time but all of these things pass if you give them time and it is all worth the effort.

First of all, purchasing Alissa Cohen's HUGE Book "Living on Live Food" and here dvd set will get you going. Even after 14 years of being raw I still watch her dvd's to inspire me because she shows how very simple eating raw can be.

I have a smoothie book (http://www.revvellations.com/shopping/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=1&zenid=29bf2079d1816cd2eb3578d6dceff89b) out if you're interested. It contains information on smoothies, green smoothies, nut and seed mylks, "ice cream" and way more.

No, you don't NEED a dehydrator yet, sometimes, during transition and to prepare foods from events, nice to have. I recommend the Excalibur 9-tray with timer (http://www.excaliburdehydrator.com/#389255).

Most of all, just enjoy experimenting and, playing with your food.

You have come to the right place for help and support. I do not have Alissa's book, yet, and this site has been a wonderful resource. There are many great mentors here and you have already heard from one of the best, Revvell. Without the appliances life on raw is about eating simple foods.

Your getting GREAT advise.....definately the best tools you'll get are Alissa's book and DVD....they will teach you everything you need to know about raw and living foods. To me, all the other books are icing on the cake but hers is essential. As far as cheese and soymilk....there are some great nut milks and nut cheese recipes that you can use to take their place. Good luck.
