what are your guys' exercise routines like?

i have 500lb of free weights, olympic standard gym equipment, dumbells, preacher curl bar, bench press, squat rack, one of those bars that you can do lat pulldowns on, and some other stuff for the back, a soloflex (great for leg presses & other stuff), gravity edge, some kinda glider thing (i forgot who made it), an orbitrek, an ab doer, an exercise ball, and i have a ton of videos/dvd's... turbo jam, tae-bo, belly dancing, all of Gilad's DVD's, and etc. i haven't used any of it in a long time. LOL but i have it! well.. i do use some of gilad's stuff. i think he rocks.

lately i have been doing a lot of those free things that i get with my cable package.. they have some things from exercisetv.tv on there.. so i just watch those and try to follow along. they have quite the variety! :) so if you are bored with your current exercising, you can go to the exercisetv place and watch some exercise videos for free.. they cost 1.99-2.99 to buy, so that you can burn them on DVD after you download them. that comes in handy. :) and i also like watching fit tv, especially when it has anything by gilad on there or shimmy.. i like belly dancing. :) so that's what i've been doing!.. how about you guys?

Gosh - I work at an almost brand new million dollar gym and I don't think we have all that stuff!! I love the elliptical (great for butts!) and I use a few of the weight machines. At home I use my rebounder and a few dvds. That's it! The trick is to USE the equipment! I found myself using our treadmill for a clothes hanger - I sure wasn't gonna get in good shape that way!::rolleyes: Have fun!

LOL i used to bodybuild competitively. :) i got most of that stuff over birthdays and holidays courtesy of my very supportive, infomercial addicted parents. :) i haven't worked out (for bodybuilding) in years.. i'm just your stereotypical american fat (_|_) these days. (but i'm working on it) i don't want to compete in bodybuilding anymore.. but i would like a fitness model looking body... sorta like jamie eason's (http://www.jamieeason.com/), amanda latona's (http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q29/poochka2007/IMG_732820copy_NBAHUCIUGE.jpg) or gabriella bankuti's (http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/5507/gabriellabankuti.jpg)..

i'm sure they do have all that stuff (and even better than what i have)! most of my stuff is old. :/ but it still works, so that's the important thing! the only things i don't have that i would like to get are a leg press and a treadmill. :/ oh well, maybe in the future. :)

I'm not one of the guys here yet, my answer is, I use Indian clubs, iron clubs (Torque Athletics), Bulgarian Training bags, kettlebells, bodyweight movements, medicine balls. I also have a rebounder, yoga and Turbo Jam vids, hula hoop, and more which I don't do much. Oh! And walking.

I mostly do walking, pilates & rebounding. I have a heavy bag, treadmill, ab-lounge and huge weight machine in the basement but I don't use those as much.

Go to YouTube and then search for Zenkahuna. I'm in the video with the "Mace Play Women". He's my teacher.

Since my gym is only 10 blocks away, it is really covenient for me to stick to a solid routine consisting of 3 full-body weight training workouts per week, with increasing emphasis on compound(multi-muscle)movements which give a huge bang for the buck in a shorter amount of time, interval training on the elliptical machine a few times a week, some core and foam roller work, plus the Tibetan 5 rites of rejuvenation(google these for lots more info). The last part is my warm-up, as it uses every muscle in the body. On my non-gym days, I'm at least out walking too. I had some setbacks with flu, injury and recent travelling that knocked me out a few times over the last couple of years, but I am catching up and going to be doing better than ever before. Raw rocks with this by the way, green smoothies were tailor-made for what I do, and have benefited me greatly.
As well as humans being cut out for raw natural foods, we are also cut out for walking lots and lifting heavy weights too. After all, back in the hunter-gather days someone had to sling that mastodon part over their shoulders, and whoever was gathering plant foods to eat had to lug them to where they were staying for the day or whatever in nomadic times prior to agriculture. They say that early humans, both men AND women, were in phenomenal shape, much like the elite athletes of today, due to the daily demands placed on their bodies. And it's no accident that agricultural peoples who are still in touch with their traditions are not worrying about being too fat or eating too much, because traditional agricultural work outdoors, as well as large animal care(horses, etc.)is very hard work. Try working outdoors in this regard for a season and you will see what I mean. Back a number of years ago, I had no access to a gym, but my husband and I were live-in caretakers on a property where there were 3 horses and a few dogs and numerous chores. I lost 8 pounds without even trying, and I was eating(at the time not raw by any stretch of the imagination)5 or 6 times a day! Also got strong wheeling those 75-100-lb. wheelbarrows of horse manure down to the dump pile each day. Each day on that job was like a 3-4 hour workout - LOL!

sounds awesome to me! :)

yep.. i grew up partly on a farm. my grandparents raised cows, chickens and geese, and had a garden. i'd spend hours out in the hot, humid weather picking weeds and hoeing & helping grandma feed the chickens and whatnot. lol i also know what it's like with the horse manure.. i used to go to summer camp at a horse ranch & one of my many lovely jobs was mucking out the stalls... :/ well, at least it wasn't pig poop. horse poop is a lot better than that. lol it's fun to work with the animals, though. i love horsies. :) they're like 1000 lb dogs with 4 really sharp toe nails and they like carrots.. :D lol

after you get used to lugging those 100lb bags & stuff around, you don't really even notice it after a while! right now, in my current level of fitness, it's hard dragging my dog's 25lb bag of dog food up the driveway, let alone doing anything HARD like that... and i about keel over just stepping outside in the heat.. i've become such a fat, lazy, squishy, useless lump of human flesh that it's embarrassing and degrading to even my ancestors.... lol they're probably turning over in their graves going "you weak, whiny little bonehead! shut up & drink your stupid smoothie, you FATTY! why back in my day..".... and you get the picture lol ugh! i just hate being fat!! i've rendered myself useless AND i get in people's way all the time. :/ but i'm changing.. and i am determined to become a glorious example of the benefits of raw food... my people used to be mercenaries for gosh sakes.. i should be built to the hilt! so that's my objective for fitness! being built to the hilt, while still being feminine and smexified (my word for uber awesomely sexy). :)

I'm currently training to become a Circular Strength Training instructor in August, so I have to pass several physical competencies. Therefore, my training is focused around yoga, a body weight routine where I have to complete 14 rounds (of about 12 movements) in 14 minutes, without resting, and a Clubbell routine where I need to complete 400 reps (of three different movements) in under 20 minutes.

Depending on the weather, I'll also sprinkle in tree climbing/swinging and jump rope here and there. I also try to walk daily.

I have three little kids that demand a lot of attention (they're 4, 2 and 1) so I don't have time to go to the gym or anything very regularly.

I get up early before everyone 3 or 4 days a week and do the biggest loser boot camp aerobics workout, or like a previous poster, something on cable from exercise tv. I also am getting into running. My husband bought me a treadmill for my birthday (I asked for it, so its okay, haha), so I try and get on there once a day, when the kids are napping. so far I've competed in three 5k races and I am hoping to do a marathon next summer.

wowie! that sounds like it'd be a lot of fun (the rock climbing and whatnot). :) thank you for sharing! i'll have to look up what a circular strength trainer is, because i have never heard of that, but i'm sure it's awesome! :)

You can find more info about it here: Circular Strength Training

But if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'm a huge proponent of the methodology because it takes a truly health first approach to training.

i don't really have a routine any longer, which has been liberating. i commute by bike year round, so i always have at least 12 miles of riding each day. in addition, i've tried to do thing each week that i enjoy - running, yoga, weight training, and taking a longer, more scenic ride to and from work as often as i can.

for four years i stuck to a very strict schedule in order to train for triathlons, running 3 times a week, training rides 3-4 times a week, swimming, weights, etc. everything, including my nutrition, was regimented. i did very well, often placing in my age group, but the enjoyment slowly drained from the activities i had formerly loved. i switched things up drastically and did roller derby for two years. fun, but time consuming with 2-3 hour practices 3x a week. i recently 'retired' and am enjoying the freedom of not being in competitive athletics for the time being.

i do think having a schedule, especially if you have a spouse and/or children can be very helpful in carving out the time to be active.

I just use my dvds- I put on the one I feel like doing-sometimes combination - arms from one-abs from the other. Since I am a mom too, I have limited undisturbed hours, so I save time by not going anywhere. Sometimes I miss yoga class, then I go. But usually it is dvds. Sometimes every day, sometimes every second day.
