Hi everyone! I have been doing the raw challenge for about 10 days now (been about 99.9% raw since I still accidentally taste what I make for my family, etc). I have always had hair that when it dried from being wet it was so voluminous and untameable I would need to pull it into a ponytail or wear a scarf on it. However, yesterday I noticed that after my shower my hair dried so FLAT! It had no volume or waves. I thought maybe it was the weather or just a fluke, but it happened again today! I have not changed my shampoo or activities, etc. Could this be a result of my body detoxing? Any other suggestions why this is happening? It looks so limp and lifeless, I have never seen it like this before in my entire life!

Could it be your age? I am approaching 50 and find that my once wavy, thick hair is now straight and thin.

Have you recently put on a shower filter?

I've noticed after awhile of washing my hair in filtered water that my hair goes flat. I use to use conditioning shampoo and conditioner because my hair use to be so big and dry. Now I dont need those shampoos but just a regular one or one for fine hair helps give me hair some 'uhmph'

Good thinking, I never thought about how the showerhead could make a difference. I do shower mostly and we just moved to a new place a few weeks ago. I noticed that this place has a weird shower head; it lets out lots of water and is very old, and probably not very ecofriendly. Maybe the extra water is doing it plus whatever filter is in there...I hope that this is all the is going on :p

Okay, I thought I would update on something pretty cool. I used to always (until about a week or so ago) shower at least once a day. Recently I have been once every two days. Anyways, today was day two and I thought I would try the baking soda in my hair (as mentioned in "no 'poo" threads on RFT) instead of shampoo or conditioner and.....my hair turned out amazing! I did have a bath, but that didn't help to unflatten my hair when I tried before. But today, as soon as I dried my hair with a towel and it was still damp I could feel the difference! It was so soft I just had to get my husband to touch it and he couldn't believe how soft it was! And guess what, when it dried completely it was voluminous! No more flat! I am certain I will be doing this again :)

Seriously, though...in 10 days I doubt you've made a change significant enough to affect your hair. Hair takes a while to grow, you know...

My lovely straight, shiny hair went all gonzo - waving everywhere......started in late 30's.

Yes folks -

I've live the kind of life that curls your hair!

I just told my son about the Seinfeld episode this past weekend. Always loved that one!
