Yesterday i made a milkless milkshake! it was SO good.
ok, this is probably NOT new to some of you but it was to me.
ok, so i get home from the gym and i want to eat something fast because i had to go back out on a errand so i grab the blender and throw in:
Big handfull frozen strawberries
big banana
vanilla rice protein powder (low heat cultivated, vegan)
and not a lot of water.
it was thick, it was smooth, it was tasty! it was a strawberry milk(less) milkshake and SO good!
ok, i just contributed to the receipe section!
:)

Yum. I make a similar one too, though without the strawberries. It tastes great when it's thick like that. Different than when I make a green smoothie. The protein powder makes it nice and creamy.

I've never had the protein powder, but I find that nut milks make creamy milkshakes, too. I use sunflower seed milk. Almond milk is good, too, if you can get your hands on some truly raw almonds.

That sounds good. One suggestion though try making it with walnuts rather than protein powder, it doesn't really change the taste. Protein powders are a refined product and completely unnecessary and expensive, they are also devoid is nutrients and healthy fats and fiber which walnuts provide.

I've gained 40 lbs mostly of muscle on a raw food diet and never take any protein powders or supplements whatsoever.

Thanks for Sharing. I Adore Summer because I can eat all the Frozen things I want without FREEZING Myself. When in a hurry I take Frozen Pineapple and spin it in the Vita-Mix and find it RAWfreshing.

Glad that worked for you! However it's not my goal to add muscle. It's not my intention to load up on nuts either. And rice protein works very well to help me reach my goals. But thanks anyway.

If your goal is to loose weight nuts will also help with that since they will make you feel full and you will eat less after. The rice protein which is devoid of nutrients will not satisfy your hunger as much and cause you to end up eating more calories by the end of the day.

I just think it's rather silly using processed foods in another wise healthy diet when it's unnessacary and costs more.

It really helps to have goals. If you don't mind sharing what is your goal ?

sorry in advance to be so defensive about this but i truely feel its "silly" to knock someone elses program because it isnt the one you used. i use Nutribiotic Vegan rice protein and it works FOR ME. its LOW calorie. 55 per serving. how many calories in all those nuts you are taking in?
i have lost 60 lbs since Nov. tweaking my programs both food and workouts.
maybe you should try some rice protein and lose the fats and all the calories and digestion issues associated with nuts? Hmmmm?

You are clearly new to raw and calories are all but meaningless on raw food. I can tell you the rice protein is far more fattening than walnuts even though walnuts have more calories, the reason is that refined rice protein has no nutrition and is the same as white sugar except it's white protein. That means the protein powder does not satisfy your hunger due to it's complete lack of nutrition causing you to end up eating more calorie elsewhere. If you used walnuts even though they have more calories they make you feel full due to all their nutrients and cause you to eat less food after causing you to end up eating less calories. It's not the calorie per item you eat that matter, it's the calories at the end of the day, and refined products are empty calories which inevitably lead to eating more calories by the end of the day. I have lost 40 lbs (which I didn't want to loose) by eating mostly nuts.

Refined/excess protein also causes cancer and heart disease, a raw food diet provides more than enough protein to start with, adding refined protein leads to excess and health problems.

Again you're new to raw food and it takes a while to understand that the more calories/fat = weight gain is a complete myth. I get about 50% of my calories from fat/nuts and have almost no body fat.

And about trying rice protein, I have no interest in eating any processed/refined foods whatsoever, they do not belong in a raw diet and I do not want to suffer from the severe consequences of protein excess.

Done with this. I didn't read your post. It's not the section of the board for this. And you obviously are way stuck on yourself. Good luck to you.

how many calories in all those nuts you are taking in?

How many nutrients are in your refined protein? None.

How many life essential fats required for mental health and other vital functions in your refined protein? None. (this may explain your lack of willingness to learn that conventional nutrition myths are false)

Calories don't count on a raw diet, I have lost the most weight (which I didn't even want to loose) by eating lots of nuts.
