Just wondering about a symptom that has occurred before and cropped up again today. My upper lip gets covered with little micro bumps, swells slightly, and dries out. I'm thinking allergic reaction?...

Possible allergin would be mangos...love them but this has happened in the past when I've had them. However, it has also happened when mangos were not in my diet. Has anyone else experienced this and do you have any ideas on the cause?

Thanks!

I have read another of your posts that said you were 1 week raw. What you are experiencing could be detox related. Many people (including myself) get canquer sores inside the mouth during the first couple weeks. Remember that your body is cleansing itself, and all that junk (including acid) is being released into your bloodstream. These bumps could be something like the canquer sores (a herpes strain of virus) that are manifesting on your lip. --This is just a guess. I would give it a couple more weeks to see if it clears up. I am six weeks raw tomorrow!

By the way, I read that you are a professional violin player. I love stringed instruments and I myself play the cello in my church orchestra. I am very amateur, but I really like it. I also dabble with the viola a bit. Don't tell anyone, but I really think I like to play the viola better than the cello :). I haven't been practicing much this summer (shame on me), so I will be interested to see if my fingers are more nimble now. We have a double bass player at our church that plays for the Toledo Symphony. Ahhhh what an inspiration to hear him play. Just lovely.

Tim,

Thanks for your response. I, too, thought about the detox issue but was wondering if it was actually an allergy since I've experienced the same thing in the past when I was not raw. Suppose it really doesn't matter much since I've read posts where those who are raw long enough even find their allergies disappearing. Pretty kewl!

So you prefer the viola to cello??!! It's awright...your secret's safe with me! I've actually done some work recently with the former music director of the Toledo Symphony. He's now working in NC. Very nice to meet a fellow music person on the post. I really need to up my practicing as well. I tend to take it a little easier during the summer as the season is quite intense.

Take care....CJB
