Hello, everyone, I will be starting 100% raw next Friday. I am spending the next 5 days studying and preparing, I have done lots of different cleanses and various degrees of raw before and have always had a big problem...I detox HARD. Not for a day here and there, and not, "Oh I feel pretty tired." I mean Run Over By A Mack Truck For Days and Weeks. It is what usually makes me fall off the wagon. But I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired! My diet now is healthier than average. Low grain, low sugar (use mostly almond flour and honey when I do bake which is not often.) Whole grains when I have them. Everything from scratch. Raw dairy.
I have searched the threads and been unable to find a concise guide to navigating detox. If you all have any advice, besides drink lots of water and rest, I would love to hear it. Thanks!

To minimize detox just eat more SAD food.

Really raw is cleansing and detoxxing. The only way to it is through it. Detox is the way through detox.
Grateful I found a way to detox all that has gone before and I willingly take it on.
Yes sad food slows down detox.

Well, I don't want to eat SAD. I know I need to detox, I was just hoping for tips to help get through it. I have heard about bentonite clay but don't know the "recipe." I have heard about salt pushes. Lemon water. Activated charcoal. Just want tips from those who have tried things that help.:o

If you aren't a compulsive eater because cook food is addictive, you can incorporate steam vegetables or steam brown rice. It will definitely help.
If you don't want to detox too fast, don't do juicing but eat whole food with their fiber.
You will be ok, just be gentle with yourself.
I find that greens help so much to transition. If you are ok with fruits, you can incorporate green smoothie

I have only been raw for 5 days in a row so far. The only detox I experienced was some fatigue. Nothing incapacitating though. But I was high raw for months before that. And I don't know maybe detox doesn't happen in 5 days and I still have that to come. But I don't think so. I think I took the trip into raw slowly and detoxed slowly too!
GOOD LUCK WITH IT:)

Maybe don't anticipate it either. I fully plan on flying through menopause easily. My doctor just laughs at me. What your mind thinks becomes your reality. Really:D

i guess i'm lucky... when i was 100% raw i didn't experience any detox symptoms besides withdrawl of cooked foods. a few mild headaches.
i did a lot of mind over matter.. not feeding into it and turned out after a week or so cooked food smells almost made me vomit every single time i could smell it. lots of close calls.
and i would draw in energy from the sun as in a healing method. it really worked/help a lot.
i read spinach helps with headaches... it actualy didn't with me. i ate it in salads. maybe a green smoothie would help but i've never had one before.
i'm going back 100% raw soon and i plan to do the same as i did years ago. mind over matter, invoking positive and not feeding into the withdrawls, and drawing in energy from sun.

Why dont you ad raw gradualy ? start out with 50% and slowly build up. That will make you detox slower and more gentle.
Start out with becoming a vegan and cut down on the grains. Ad more and more raw and replace you cooked dishes with raw, Ex. replace hummus with a nice raw nut "cheese" a.s.o.
Take you time and be gentle with yourself. The more raw you ad to you diet it will have a huge impact on you health no matter what, so no need to rush it. There is no need for you to feel more sick that absolutely nessesary.
A good place to start would be green smoothies (leafy greens and fruits).

i agree... start slowly.
remove all white: sugar, flour... anything white doesn't touch your lips
do that for a few weeks and then remove all fried foods and meat products
next get rid of your dairy
and so on and so on. of course doing colonics may assist you, i haven't done any but i've heard people say it helps.
sorry, i know you want THE answer... but there isn't one. IF there was... we all would have done it LOL and you'd see it posted all over the forum!

use other ways to get the junk out.
Hot epsom salt baths, saunas, etc. Running till the sweat drips off your body.
Other than that, as was said, power through it.
Wheat grass juice helped me alot, otherwise I was too low energy.
Keep the plumbing running. Wheat grass is good for that too!

In "The Sunfood Diet Success System" David Wolfe wrote that eating lightly cooked foods or steamed vegetables will slow detoxification. He also says eating more young coconut, avocados, nuts, and seeds with green-leafed vegetables will thicken the blood to a degree that slows detox; and allows you to remain on the raw diet.
If your local library or bookstore has a copy of Sunfood Diet I highly recommend reading the chapter on detoxification.
I say, EMBRACE IT! It may be the best thing that ever happened to you!

I WILL be embracing some things.....lol....my pillow, the toilet, my hot water bottle! Seriously, I do better at all or nothing, so I will get through it the best I can and think positively. I have read about bentonite and psyllium shakes, lemon water, epsom salt baths, dry skin brushing, enemas and colonics....so I will be trying all those and let everyone know. I will add that previous stuff I have done for detox have included high power anti yeast and parasite stuff, so maybe if I don't do that, it won't be so bad. We shall see!
