Hello Everyone, I'm new to the raw food lifestyle and came across a post where someone was talking about these 2 terms. Could someone explain this to me? Thanks so much, Kathy

High raw is 70% to 99% raw. All raw is 100% raw.

There's no raw food police. :) (Thank goodness.) All raw TO ME means I don't eat cooked food. High raw means I don't eat a lot of cooked food; most but not all of my diet is raw.

Different people will give you different numbers and different ideas, but the truth is that we are potentially all correct because it is so subjective.

high raw is being realistic in this world while all raw is an ideal way of eating which doesn't want to deal with adaptation...
explanation; if you are in the north pole where it freezes everything and your only food is fish, would you eat it raw or cooked???
let say where you live there is nothing except animals...would you kill and eat raw flesh or cooked flesh or would you eat nothing at all and die of starvation???
adaptation is the key word...and 100 percent raw is hypocrite because perfection doesn't exist...
for me high raw is perfect while for a true raw foodist it could be crap...

Everybody is different. For me it is easier to be 100% raw than eating some cooked food, because that would make the addictions and gravings going on.

you are right but the cravings can be stop if you eat whole plants or whole grains, make sure it is whole in its primary state...even cooked the cravings can stop if you eat wholegrain rice, grains, bread, greens too.

well obviously raw runner is not "all raw" LOL

i consider myself raw. do i freak out if there's something not raw in my salad... no i either remove it or eat it depending on what it is. but when i first came to this lifestyle... i was very very careful to eat 100% because that's how you get the amazing results (in my opinion)... weight release (i released 145 pounds in my first year on raw) and great health increase (i healed diabetes, high blood pressure, low iron, high cholesterol, wasn't able to digest food, lethargic, horrible skin etc). now my doctor sees me as the perfect example of health!!!

it's important to choose for yourself... high or all... it's YOUR body and your life... (((hugs)))

I'm sure it's different for everyone, but for me cravings definitely just get worse if I eat cooked foods like bread/grains, or anything cooked for that matter. I find cooked foods have addictive properties- the more I eat, the more I want! So it's easier for me to choose not to eat them. And since I don't live in the North Pole I don't really have to worry about not having raw foods available ;)

I think it's just about doing what feels right on a day to day basis. There's no such thing as a perfect diet, there's just what works best for you as an individual.

Dr. Kristine Nolfi demonstrated the difference between high raw and all raw. She had a cancerous tumor on her breast that diminished in size when she ate all raw. When she reverted to high raw it started growing again.

I've been "high raw" and I've also maintained 100% RAW, and there are definite differences between the two.

On high raw vegan + raw fish, I gain belly weight, my complexion gets irregular, my skin develops dry patches, my headaches return, and I begin experiencing joint pain.

On 100% RAW VEGAN, I gradually lose all the above mentioned symptoms, but I develop extreme sensitivity to chemicals, carpet, plants, furry animals, etc., etc., etc.

I am currently 100% RAW, and while I love the way I feel INTERNALLY, it's a hard world I live in (a dirty, desert city) to be ultra-sensitive in... still, I believe in the body's ability to heal itself when given the tools - and for me, 100% RAW is the #1 Tool for achieving optimum health!

It may be that after several months on consistent 100%, I will no longer have these sensitivities??? I hope for this. :)

As far as cravings and irritability, I have had bad results since going raw when I have slipped and consumed anything with grain and to a lesser degree, beans and dairy, in it. Even if that consisted only in licking the spoon after making vegan cornbread batter or scraping off the peanut butter spoon I have since gotten the fam on almond/cashew butter and quit baking). I have learned that it's OK for me to test a bite of steamed veg though. I think it's more a matter of what cooked food you're eating if you're not 100%. Big difference between a bite of steamed veg and a bite of cookie or cheese. The steamed veg may be "dead" but at least for me it is not detrimental. If you are not commited to 100%, define for yourself what you will allow yourself cooked (ie squash, brown rice, etc). I would think that gluten grains and dairy would be the worst for addictions. And sugar of course.

This is totally totally me!! I have come to the conclusion that it is not the "cooked" but the "grain" or "dairy" or "sugar". This past week that I was off them it was so easy. I had a couple cooked but veggie things on the weekend and the cravings did not return. That is not to say that I am still not aiming for all raw but I now know what I cannot eat because of the addictive quality of it.

I would prolly have some bread, sugar or dairy every once and awhile..but I get a 24 hour headache. So it keeps me on the right track. About the only thing I can get away with is all natural corn chips but those back me up and are slow to digest. My body is now forcing me to stick to raw or else I regret it. So it's nice for my eating to be now controlled by my body other than my mind. I was an emotional eater and didn't know when to stop or how to make sensible choices. I still enjoy food. Like yesterday I was in heaven eating this perfectly ripe peach. So juicy ...so yummy. It also made me appreciate the summer.
