Hi everyone!

I'm 26, and I've been struggling to maintain the raw lifestyle since the beginning of the year. I know what a great feeling I get from being raw, but it's difficult for me because I don't know any other raw foodists. I do a lot of reading and searching on the internet. I recently met some raw foodists at a raw-food support group one town over from me, that was very helpful. My biggest hurdle is overcoming some of my cooked food cravings. I have lots of those at night. But I'm trying the 30 day challenge, and I'm going to try some of the great suggestions I've read. I look forward to "meeting" more of you!

Hi and welcome....just joined myself. I'm in florida too, not too sure what, if anything, is happening in my area. This is a new wol for me and I am pretty excited about it. I did just join an organic buyers group a few weeks ago and hope to find some other raw foodists thru there when I get the chance.

Wish you the best on the challenge...am on day #2~*s*

Welcome here. How about making some raw fudge for your craving? That is if you like things like that. It sure helped me when I first started many years ago.
Was there many people at the raw food support group? It would seem there should be. Or was it just starting up? ;)

Futterfly, I just ordered Alissa's book, so I don't have any of the recipes everyone here seems to have, can I find a recipe for raw fudge on here?

Delerium, I'm from Palm Bay, it's on the east coast about 45min south of Cocoa Beach.

GlimR, thanks for the welcome! Where did you find this organic buyers group?

Flutterfly,
sorry didn't seen the end questions of your post before I posted my last reply!

I only have gone to one of the meetings so far, and there was only a few people there (like 5 of us). I know they were saying the woman who usually leads the groups was away at a raw food seminar in CA, and most of the regulars weren't there... But where I live is a fairly small town, maybe there just isn't that many raw fooders...

I put nutbutter (1 cup), carob powder (1/4 c), dates (about 4-5 soaked) and a little raw honey in the food processor for my fudge. If you don't have dates mayby you have raisins or currents. I really never measure so this is about as close as I can tell you.
That is wonderful the woman from the group is in CA learning more about Raw Food. I bet you have found just the group that will help you out a lot.

Raw_Medic,GlimR, Doe, Rawadventures,

Tampa is in the house! THE FLORIDA CONTINGENT IS PRESENT AND ACCOUNTED FOR!
I believe we've got most of the peninsula covered. *Picking up bullhorn* Are there any Raw foodists in the dirty south or are you all still doing Southbeach?

I'm pretty new to this raw thing as well, but I am loving every minute of it, even my slip-ups. I am learning so much, and meeting some very knowledgeable people on this forum.

Raw_Medic,

I been here around 10-11 yrs so I consider myself a Tampan, but I actually grew up in...wait for it...Satellite Beach. (How's that for small town)? I think it's great that you were able to attend a raw support group. I believe there are a few in Clearwater, but currently that's a bit out of reach for me. I recently contacted Rawguru via PM (who I believe also resides in Tampa---www.rawguru.com) to see if there are any such groups/potlucks a little closer to me. Most of the posts from him on this site are dated, but I'm sure his plate is full with his own site.(understandable.)

I've been watching raw foodists for several years now and am finally ready to get in gear. I just moved to Lakeland, FL. I would love to meet up with all of you if you get together.
