Hi There,
I am reading the book "12 steps to Raw Foods (2007) By Victoria Boutenko and I thinks its an awesome book.
Has anybody read "Green for Life". Is it worth me purchasing the other book? Or is most of the information in both books?
Thanks. I am a noob and drinking a Green Smoothie of Collard Greens, Bok Choy, 1 apple, 1 banana

I too have been considering buying the Boutenko book about greens (I also think she has a new one coming out in July), so would interested in hearing peoples' opinions on it.
Also, just wondering... is a smoothie made of collards and bok choy tasty? I have some collards in my fridge right now. Thanks.

I read Green For Life and found it very informative and an important read for any raw foodist, especially a "noob." ;)
It's a relatively quick read and something I refer back to often for information and recipes.
I highly recommend it.
I haven't used collards or bok choy in a smoothie yet but I'm sure it's good. Just make sure you add sweet fruit and enough water to make it palatable.

I have read both, in my opinion, 12 Steps is far superior than Green For Life.

Green for life is the overview of why greens n esp green smoothies. It is a must read and a keeper for sure.

Hi, I have read both too, and would advise anybody struggling with cravings to go 'green' - The book explains that we need to consume much larger amounts of greens than is usually possible to eat in a day (unless taking part in a chewathon!).
Green smoothies are much quicker to make than a green juice (and less washing up) plus you get all the fibre.
In my humble opinion 'Green for life' is one of the most important raw food books out there; simple to read and to the point and includes recipes.
Treat yourself;-)

Yeah, Its AWESOME.
The premise of a green smoothie is a way to "sneak in" the strong tasting dark greens my masking their strong flavor with fruits or lemon juice.
Works like a charm. Ya gotta have a Vita-Mix though (Or BlendTek) to pull this off smoothly. And add enough water so that it goes down easy (Not like a mush). The 2 vegetarians I live with (none of them raw) lovingly refer to my drinks as "slime".
Call it slime, but it sure beats paying for health insurance. :D

I'm fortunate that our library has "Green For Life", so I was able to read it that way.
I loved it, but chose not to purchase it. For me, it depends on how much $$ I have to spend on books and personally, I'd rather have the big recipe books, plus I can check it out any time I want. *Ü*

Thanks! Think I'll throw some collards into my smoothie this morning. I don't have a Vita-Mix (yet -- my VISA is still recovering from the 9-tray Excalibur and the Champion juicer, ha), but my Breville blender does a fairly decent job.

I'd highly recommend it. I think Victoria rocks! I have both the 12 Steps, and Green for Life, and a dvd she did. I'm definately getting her new book, and I want to get the others she has put out. I also get her newsletters. I love having the book, even though I've read it a few times, because I like to go back and re-read about all the studies that she researched, and I love reading about the Roseburg Study!
Go Green Smoothies!!
