Hello everyone, yesterday during a time of feeling despair over my ongoing health problems, I stumbled upon the Raw for 30 days website and felt God was saying, Go for it! So I am excited to find a board dedicated to those doing a 30 day challenge. My 30 days will start next Friday, the 12th, as I am going out of town to a conference on the 9th-11th and didn't think that was a good time to start raw!
I am a 50yo mother of six with long standing health issues. I actually tried the Hallelujah Diet in 1993 and got extremely ill after a few weeks. That was when I discovered that I can't tolerate gluten. Of course what do new vegans do? Eat tons of bread! I have done many cleanses and fasts over the years but have never done all raw for any length of time, just some short term juice fasts. So I am excited to try this. I have ordered a dehydrator and am looking at a vegetable spiral slicer to make "pastas." I love to cook and try new recipes, so yesterday I went and got a bunch of raw books from the library. My family likes salads and raw foods but they will still want their meat, lol.
I have celiac disease, fibromylagia, migraines from hormonal issues, fatigue.....you name it. But nothing that can be cured by modern medicine. In the last few years, my blood pressure and blood sugar have creeped up, yet I find it almost impossible to lose weight. I weigh about 200 pounds at 5'3". I will be happy to lose weight but mostly just want to feel better.
I know I will be jumping in the middle of the month, so I hope that is OK. Looking forward to getting to know you all and getting and giving support on this journey.
