I am back to juicing regularly, and have been using organic carrots in 2# bags, they are $1.49 a pound. I just bought a 15# bag of organic "juicing carrots) from Wild Oats. Holy Moses! These things are HUGE compared to the smaller bags.

Do they just separate the huge carrots at harvest and package them as juicers, since they are to big for everyday use? Or are they grown differently?

Are there more nutrients by volume in the smaller ones, seem like their would be, intuitively. I am willing to pay a bit more for higher quality if necessary. I've just always felt (especially in the old world of pesticide-laden veggies) that things that seem to grow bigger are less full of the good stuff.

Thoughts?

in my limited experience of carrots for juicing (as i don't do carrots but my friend does who was using my juicer with my assistance)... the larger/juicing carrots are often quite dry.

not only did my champion juicer hate juicing them... had to shut it down often to cool off... but... we got little juice out of the juicing carrots compared to the same volume of 'eating' carrots.

I've had no problem with juicing Carrots. I like them because I can get 25lb bag for under $5-. I am getting them 3lbs for $1- this week. A Carrot is a Carrot when Juicing. I just drop them in My Jack Lalane Juicer and its Juice.

Although I have a Green Star I like Jack for certain things. I also find Carrot Juice quite Filling. My Carrots are not Organic, just Carrots. I use the Fiber on My Plants and Trees and they like Carrots also.
