Mornin' all!

<sigh> I've been bad today. Today was my 10th day 100% ... and I wound up blowing it. :( (Only because my workload at work has been off the Richter scale, and I'm coming in at 4:30am and going pretty much non-stop ... not a good thing, I know.) But I was dying today, just exhausted, and caved ... I had a cup of coffee.

I haven't had any coffee for months ... so this has put me bouncing off the walls for starters ... <g> But I've also been getting dizzy on and off all morning. Has anyone else had this effect with having coffee after a long break from it? I don't think I'm sick ... I feel fine, other than having this happen since I drank the coffee. I shouldn't have had it, I know, but I was desperate. :(

I know coffee affects insulin. Also if you had sugar in it as well that could have added to the dizziness.

Thanks, Solarliving ... I'm surprised (sort of) that it affected me ... I've never had a problem with it in the past. But then after detox and not having it in my system ... I knew better ... <sigh>

The insulin response is one of the many reasons I stopped drinking coffee, because I would feel lightheaded. I have been off coffee for almost a month now and hadn't had a soda since early july. I had a few sips of pepsi last night. My parents were visiting all weekend and I seriously fell off the wagon with all the corn nuts, lays potato chips and ice cream they had in the house. I just brush myself off and begin again with my regimen. Just drink lots of water today. I bet you will feel much better.

Yeah, I'm already back on track again. :) That was just a momentary lapse of sanity this morning ... lol ... It has me pretty wired now, too. I haven't had any caffeine for quite a few months, so I'm feeling the effects of this!

I have been struggling with a coffee addiction for many many years. When I go for long periods without it I do get light-headed and dizzy when I cave-in. This is when I drink DECAF! If I have regular I know within minutes as I start to get palpitations, I get super hyper (not in a good way), can't sit still, can't shut up, my forearms get really 'tight' and I feel like I need to 'claw' at something. Generally I feel like I've been drugged...because I have been. I haven't been able to drink regular coffee for years, but even decaf is now starting to have those effects, and even when I have been drinking it pretty regularly in the last few months.
In homeopathic theory coffee (including decaf) is considered extremely bad, and not because of the caffeine. There are many other stimulating substances in coffee, lots of toxins, etc, aside from caffeine. The effects you noticed are not unusual when your body becomes clearer and cleaner.
I had a jewelry teacher a few years back who couldn't drink coffee/decaf if he had to work because he couldn't see well after it. I noticed the same thing and had to stop when I would be going to class.

Another coffee lover here! What I've been doing lately is having grain coffee (Postum) to help with the coffee cravings. I find the taste is similar enough that I feel satisfied. It's not the best thing but it's better for me than the real thing. I also find I don't drink as much as I would if it were real coffee.

Pfc,

Decaf does have some caffeine in it. A lot of people aren't aware of that but I think it is about 2%. Also there is a chemical in decaf that isn't in regular due to the process of making the coffee bean decaf. If you are drinking it for the taste you might try roasted chicory root or Teecino which is a store brand of chicory, dried fig, and barley.

Glad to know that others out there also struggle and conquer this horrible addiction to coffee/caffeine. It's been a week and a half for me with no coffee and I feel amazing...no more hypoglycemia! Much less moody and much less stressed out overall...
