What's your guy's views on food combining?

How important is it while on a raw vegan diet? Do you actually practice it? Do you plan meals around it?

I think it's more of a question of how important it is to you. I value and appreciate food combining for how my body performs when I respect it. I started food combining before my raw vegan journey and have found it to continue to be beneficial. I think that if you can gulp down a green smoothie that's loaded with fruits, veggies, etc. without any upset stomach or other reactions then enjoy and rejoice - have one for me!:)

I personally prefer to enjoy most of my fruits and veggies separately when juicing and carefully combine fruits because I have found over the years, that most of the research I've done about combining certain sub-acid foods with sweets for example, to hold important truths - but that's just my experience. Even with fruits, there is no way you can bribe me to eat a banana and apple together (serious stomach cramps) but that's just me.

This raw vegan journey gives me way more freedom than my previous practice of eating because I'm not eating unhealthy things like cheese and fruits or candy and crackers together and suffering the consequences of bloating and indigestion, (not that I needed to be eating them in the first place but learned the hard way about combining that junk together)etc.

One more time for the road - that's just me...hence we're all uniquely made so do (or don't do in this case) what's best for you. I'm not sure what you mean by planning meals around it but I respect food combining with everything I eat. But hey - that's just me (okay this is really the last time I'll say this); if it's not an issue for you then don't make it one...Just eat:)

i properly food combine most of the time, because i assimilate food faster, it doesnt give me cramps or back me up, or gas or bloating and i keep my energy.

I eat fruit alone, or with greens in salads or smoothies

i eat veggies/starch alone or with greens and as little carbs as possible

i only mix fruit and fat once in a while, more often fat and starch like nuts/seeds and veggies

so its just what you want to do. Eat whatever, eat consciously, feel ok, better, greeat.. whatever. You can decide what to do, without having it consume your life or being stressed about it. I just never eat raw veggies with fruit if i want to feel good personally.

What about things like avacados? That are carbs + fats.

I'm not really worried about the food combining thing, but I want to follow a the best basic guideline when getting off the master cleanse.

I do not have a choice. I get gassy if I combine badly so I think that it is my body's way of telling me to do it properly.

I've never experienced bad food combining physically, i'm never bloated or anything, so i keep eating anything with anything...

But i guess that too will change over time...

In some ways you are lucky but I do think that if you do combine properly then you get the best out of your digestive process and therefore out of your food so maybe I am the lucky one.

the only food combining i do is... i don't eat melon with anything else. it digests faster so i eat it first... wait 30 minutes and eat something else if i choose to.

other than that... i just enjoy my food!!!

I keep it ultra basic. I only eat one kind of food at a time, two hours apart from any other food.

Nothing too drastic: Melons alone, dried fruit (with avocado) or nuts/seeds, and fresh fruit (all types & can be mixed) alone.

I don't eat very many greens (don't judge me! :p), but when I do I combine them with dried fruit and avocado.

I think the most important point is that you don't combine acid generating foods with base generating foods because acids and base neutralise each other. For raw food this is almost redundant because there is hardly anything acid generating.
Fruits are digested best if you eat them mono or with greens, fruits and root vegetables are supposed to be a rather bad combination. I always keep those things in mind but I sometimes make exeptions.

In the beginning of your raw journey, you shouldn't worry about this for now. What is crucial is to get your mind comfortable first because if you are too religious about your food, you are high risk to get back to bad habit.

As you go along, you will make adjustment.

The simplyraw detox manual book, does talk about food combining.
Also the hipocrate institute.

What i do now, i listen to my body and what give me gas, i readjust.

If i make an apple pie, i am ok with that as long i use raw agave and not raw honey. I don't mix honey with fruits especially banana.

I mix fruits with my greens.

If i make a raw dish that require fruit and nut together, i don't worry about this.

If i eat a fruit alone, i will wait a min half hour before eating something else.
Or will wait to have an empty stomach to eat a fruit.

I must have been a good 4-6 months on raw food before i started to make some adjustment.

I recommend to make a little adjustment only when you feel ready.

What you could do, is to take your time to chew and disgest before the next meal.

Have fun with your food and really don't try to be too perfectionist.
