Hey, is it possible to eat too much fruit in a single day?

I guess I have to watch out for the natural occurring sugar, right? I know that there are people out there who only consume fruit, but they must balance it with veggies...right?

I guess if my body is craving fruit, maybe I'm lacking in something that the fruit gives me... Or, it could be that fruit is just easy to grab and go, so I grab it and go...

But, I wonder...if I JUST eat fruit, is that a bad thing?

I'd say unless you're trying to heal candida, go for it.

There's no such thing as too much fruit, if you and your body wants only fruits i see no reason why you should have anything else. People are frutarians and live happily like that, bc their bodies want fruits and nothing but...

Maybe that IS what your body is wanting right now - just eat it and enjoy! That said though, over the longer term, you might want to balance that out with other raw goodies, like dark greens, healthy fat sources, etc, especially if you have any blood sugar issues. There are a lot of people out there in the mainstream who are afraid to eat fruit, because of "all the sugar", but fruit sugar is NOT the same as refined sugar as the fruits have many co-factors that help your body utilize it, and it will be even better balanced out with other things. But for right now, enjoy that fruit - your body will tell you when it's time to change your food up. Are you active at all? Reason I ask is because fruits are really utilized well when you have enough physical activity, and one's denser raw foods that provide amino acids are good for tissue repair. Just my thoughts here!

Well I know fruit has more calories than vegetables so if you’re trying to lose weight there could be a point at which you are eating to much fruit in a single day. I’m not sure about the sugar aspect of it though. Wither sugar from fruit can cause problems in blood sugar levels or not. I’ve read articles arguing both sides of the issue.

I always joke that I "live off fruit"... on some days I will even eat 90% or more fruit.
I truly believe our bodies crave and love fruit so much because for the most part, it's been a staple in our homo sapien diet for tens of thousands of years, as almost all fertile areas of the earth have native fruit-bearing vegetation that evolved in their own climates.

Plus, carbohydrates are the bodies #1 preferred source for energy. Fat and protein have other very important roles in the body, however a healthy body cannot rely on these sources purely for the sake of energy. The body needs to have an adequate intake of carbohydrates (sugars.. NATURAL raw sugars that is) to spare body protein needed for muscle repair and some fat for fat-soluble vitamin intake, organ protection etc.

Veggies are amazing as well... although on most days I eat more fruit than veggies. Also remember that some foods we consider vegetables are still botanical fruits, like cucumbers, tomatoes, etc.

Like I said, I eat fruit all the time. I feel at my physical and mental ALL-TIME BEST!

For most, yes. If you balance it with enough minerals (greens, powders, sea weed, celery), you should be fine though. Everyone is different though, so it's something to test and pay close attention to how you feel.

What if fat is the problem with candida though;) Seriously though due to all the theorys does anyone really know? I really do believe i have candida but when i just eat fruit i feel great, but then when i have something like meat, eggs etc my stomach feels all bunged up and i feel horrible.

Nah. Especially if it's only just a day or so.

I say just eat however much your body wants you to eat. That's what I do and it works for me!

Really!!! I knew about tomatoes, but cucumbers too??? Interesting...I didn't realize that!!!

Thanks for all of the responses! I was craving so much that I went out yesterday and bought: Bananas, Apricots, Peaches, Strawberries, Watermelon, Grapes, Pineapple, Cucumbers, and Apples!!!!! :D I'm just gonna enjoy all of this w/o worrying that I'm eating too much of it. I feel like I have energy to spare today, so I guess I'm on the right path for me!!!! :)

Cukes have seeds as do squash and bell peppers and many other things we don't consider "fruit".

So, I've heard that it's not good to mix fruits and veggies (with a few exceptions) but, if we don't "consider" these as "fruit" then I guess it doesn't matter, right.

Since I've been eating a lot of fruit lately, I've been looking at Alissa's chart in her book on food combining (on page 83). It shows cucumber in the "vegetable" column as well as squash. Is that because it's "acceptable" for salads whereas "acid" fruits are not.
