i have used that & while it *helped*, for me it didnt totally remove it. i can say for sure what NOT to use---carpect steam cleaning of any kind!! it just adds water to the pee and wakes it up so it's stronger and SPREADS it underneath the pad.

i would also confine the kitty to a floored area (with litter box) so the potty can be wiped up and not soak in. i think cat pee is the worst thing to try to get out of carpet...goodluck.

so sad when our friends get old..... :(

Enzymatic cleaners. Biokleen puts out one called Bac Out. Also, raw apple cider vinegar is supposed to work although I haven't tried that. Had a 20 yr old catfriend that had a similar problem and I used an enzymatic cleaner from a tea tree oil company. Worked like a charm.

Everything everyone else already recommended.

and

Nature's Miracle ...non-toxic and extremely effective.

Inexpensive. I used it when I had a doggie. What is great about it is it eliminates the odor so well, they won't continue to use the same spot as a toilet. The main problem with the vinegar/baking soda method is they can still smell the urine and if they're not house or litter boxed trained yet...they'll keep going back to that spot.

Ok, dumb question here, but does any of this bleach your carpet? We have cat pee underneath (way underneath) a dark blue carpet. If i soak and clean using hydrogen peroxide i will bleach it, right??
