Okay, while I have your attention - is it just my food processor, or are they all like this? I got an older, barely touched used cusinart 11-cup food processor through craigslist. Thing was probably unpacked once and that's it - the blades still had the stickers on them!
Only problem is, when I am trying to get the food bowl OFF the base, it is like prying white off rice - it's INSANE. Right now, it's simply not coming, and I'm about to lose my mind. I swear it feels like something is going to break every time. it's not that hard to snap into place, I've read the directions (start with the handle at 7o'clock when putting it on, etc), I just can't figure it out. I seriously don't know if it's coming off this time.
Are they all built this tight, or is this screwed up, or is there a release button somewhere that I've totally missed??
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

What do you mean like prying white off rice?
For most models you need to make sure the top lid is opened otherwise the bowl will stay locked on the base.

I just bought a new 7 cup cuisinart and I have no problem removing the bowl from the unit. I have no problem with any of the safety catches. Make sure everything is in it's right place (i'm sure you have) before you put a machete to it. I hope you find a solution, but again, I have a brand new one with no issues at all.
Good lucK!!!

Oh dear- that doesn't sound right at all! Mine pops off very easily.
Wait- you are taking the lid off the bowl before removing the bowl, right?

"Like white on rice" is just an expression that two things go together and aren't coming apart. There's a similar expression involving stink and doodee, but as mad as I was at my food processor, I didn't want to apply that one to it!
I had the lid off, but still wasn't coming. Wiped the sweat off my brow, muttered a little, and had the brilliant idea to unplug it. DUH! Still harder than I think it should be, but that was definately my problem before. So, it's off, marinara went into the blender, cleaned the kitchen up, and all is right with the world, LOL!
Thanks!

I have that problem on occasion with mine. I dont think it had anything to do with unplugging it. I dont know what causes it - happened maybe 4-5 times in 28 years. LOL. Maybe some food gets caught up in the blades underneath where it goes over the post that turns it. I never really figured it out. I know it feels like it is just not coming off though. Hopefully it will only happen to you 4 -5 times in 28 years too.:D

Happens with mine on occasion also. I just give it a smack. I think it's masochistic and needs a good smack once-in-awhile. ;)

I think I have the same one, I give it a flat handed punch to get it off the base....

Assuming the lid is already removed from the bowl. If you look carefully at the locking mechanism, you might find that the vertical part that gets pressed down by the lid is jammed; unplug it first, then poke something at it carefully. On the newer models this part is white. I can't remember what it looked like on the older bowls.
FYI, I can tell you that about a year ago, I replaced my 25yo one with the same model, and so did a friend -- and we are both dissatisfied with the redesign.
I thought it was just mine - because for years it was difficult to get off the base. I would have to smack it (clock wise) every time to dislodge it.
But as of just a few months ago, I can simply remove it like one should be able to. This is my second Cuisinart and both of them were difficult that way. But it didn't stop me from buying the second one I have now - love it! *Ü*

I only had that problem once with my Cuisinart FP. I didn't read the manual first. I kept trying to get the bowl off and finally my husband walks over and pops it off like magic. :D
I love my FP. I'd be so lost without it.

Maybe it just wanted me to complain about it, and make it feel important! It's FINE now, LOL! One time, it just came off - no struggling, no bracing my feet against the cabinets. Alls well that ends well, LOL!

I have the 11 cup cuisinart. Hit the handle with your right hand to unlock it. It's a hard push on and then it takes a "knock" to the handle to get it loose.
