I started watching Biggest Loser in fall of 2006, just kind of happened upon it and I really liked it. So I've watched since and I've always wondered what kind of results the contestant would have if they ate raw foods instead.

I bet they would get results even faster and wouldn't have to work out so much every day.

I know the trainers are big on protein though, so I know they would never go for it, but still...it would be interesting!!!

Wow, i just love that show. I've watched every year. Most of them seem to gain some weight back, a lot of them gain almost all of it back. If you watch the show, they drink skim milk, make turkey foods, go to Subway and eat luncheon meats, eat sugarless gum. With raw they would have to learn a whole new way of life, that would be too drastic for mainstream tv.

I like this show - I also think if they did eat better, they would all look soooooooo much healthier at the end!!! With their extreme diet and changes they all look very weathered at the end of their journey!

I saw an episode of this show and it really grossed me out because it's so ridiculously corporate that nobody on the show has a chance of really healing their body without exercising for an hour or two each day. All they eat are processed foods, smaller servings of typical SAD foods, and copious amounts of "lean proteins" which does almost nothing for you.

It would be great if one contestant decided that they would take the raw approach, but that person would obviously get demonized and kicked out of the competition for being "mental" and wouldn't even get a chance to demonstrate that eating raw works, because the producers would be too busy pushing their advertiser's products down people's throats.

Ha!! So true!! Eating raw is so out of the mainstream, from what i see at work and around me, nobody really knows about it. They think you nibble on acorns or something.

An hour or two of exercise a day does not do it. The trainers say that the contestants basically work out as if they were athletes, about 8 hours a day. Since nobody can maintain that kind of workout regimen once back in the "real" world, a lot of the contestants do gain back some (or a lot of) weight. Raw is really a paradigm shift, not just a dietary change. Unless you understand intellectually that this is the way human primates are supposed to eat by nature, you will not stick to it. If one of these contestants were to "see the light" and eat as raw as possible on the show and then maintain a raw lifestyle afterward, s/he would not regain weight even with just regular exercise. I would volunteer, but I no longer qualify :D . They don't consider 15 extra pounds to be overweight. :p:D:)

Perhaps they could call the raw version of the show The Biggest Winner?

I certainly have the BMI to qualify and I would LOVE to do it raw (to show the "world" its so doable and delicious) but my issue is with the utter lack of desire to have my life ripped to shreds by the reality TV show world.

Did you know that Bob is actually a vegan and has been for sometime? When he has to do food things for the show he pretends to eat the food or drink the milk but you will never see him put it in his mouth! :p

Really Bob is vegan?? I have his book and from what I can recall he doesn't mention that at all...wish he would!!! I've heard Jillian talk about how veganism doesn't work for her and blah blah this...she drives me nuts.

I didn't know he was Vegan but I did know he has perscribed to someone to just to eat Vegetables and Fruit. Hey.......everyone don't want to be a RAW Foodist.

I'm not a tv watcher much at all (although we do watch amazing race when it on). I may have to add this to our schedule when it comes back on...

Ya I guess Bob had a good friend who was Vegan and turned him. He was on a local station here and talk about it. It's only been about 4 months or so.

I heard him talk on Jillian's show some months ago. He says on that show that he still eats fish though. I'm not aware if he recently said he cut that out or not.
