I've never made the torte or brownies before. At the moment, I only have dried sultanas and prunes at home.
Has anyone tried making the torte with prunes instead of dates? Sultanas in the base would probably be overload.
What about making the brownies with sultanas and/or prunes?
I have searched the forum but the only good sub seems to be figs.
Thanks

My intuition says that the prune-y taste will probably shine throuhg, as will the sultana taste. Dates, i think, have a more neutral sweet taste.
But if you don't mind new flavours, just go ahead and make sure you tell us all about your experiment!

I have used dried apricots and they were fine so I think that it would come down to taste. You may like it more.

Do try and let us know how it turned out and could you eat as much as you want without the laxative effect from the Prunes?

These are the different variations I've tried and it always turns out delicious.
For raisins I've used: Prunes, Dried apricots
For walnuts: Mix of walnutes and pumpkin seeds and or hemps seeds
