Will eating the raw food way provide all the daily nutrients needed for the body, or will taking a multi vitamin be sufficent with raw eating?

Its best to get your vitamins from your food...why make some company more money? You can get all you need just from your food. At some point your body will crave what you need if you will trust it.

I personally don't. Many here do and many here don't for personal reasons. I feel I get what I need from my food and until something within tells me differently, that's kinda what I lean towards.

In addition to any replies you receive in this thread, here are a couple of discussions that may give some valid points on both ends and give you some things to think about as you make the decision for what is right for you:

Aasyah - it really depends on various factors - 1) how healthy were you coming into raw? If you already had a health condition (i.e. diabetes, high cholesterol, low blood sugar), then supporting the body through supplements until it has had time to adjust to raw can be beneficial. 2) Are you eating completely organic? If not, you will still get some nutrients, but not the total amount as you would from organic, locally grown food. 3) the vegan lifestyle can eventually cause some individuals to have a b-12 deficiency. I'm already deficient, so I supplement with b-12. All that to say, it really is dependent on the individual and his/her needs at that given moment in time.

If you are vegan for some time then you should consider taking b12. It is recomended that you not go over 3 years. You could get tested but that is expensive and the supplements are cheap

If you are vegan for some time then you should consider taking b12. In Alissa's Need to Know More About Raw? section of this forum, she has posted three separate sets of information about B-12. That's a terrific place to learn all you need to know about being a vegan live foodist and B-12.

If you really feel you need to take vitamins, please at least get the whole foods based ones instead of the cheap chemical crappy ones that don't hardly get absorbed & are not much more than an unnessasary burden for your body. If you listen to Lorraine Day speak on taking vitamins & what they are really made out of, you would NEVER want to put them in your body again.
