After lurking for some time, I finally introduced myself today on the introduction area, and I'd like to ask a question. I thought I was Day 28 of raw, but I just reviewed my log and realize I miscounted and am Day 30. Woo-hoo!!! I'm doing very well. I do still have a few days that I'm exhausted and a bit down, even though most days are fabulous. I'd like to understand if this is detox still. I know everyone is different, but does someone have an understanding of how long detox might take on average? I gave up junk, processed food 25 years ago, so I'd expect my detox to be on the lower range. Are we talking anywhere from 1 week to years? Or does anyone know? I don't mind detox and am grateful for it! But my problem solving mind tends to worry if I'm eating something that's causing it, a symptom of being my own doctor for too many years. Is there anyway to know when you've finished detoxing? I have a wart on my food that I always thought would be my criteria for healing. It appears to be going away nicely, still shows redness but doesn't feel like the root is still there. I also still need magnesium for regular bowel movements in spite of eating over 50 grams of fiber a day and drinking plenty of water. My overview.

Symptoms:
Candida, constipation, bloating, fatigue/exhaustion, depression, social withdrawal, TMJ, belly fat, bullfrog neck, hypothyroidism, lack of libido, all hormones low, poor circulation, eczema, redness/inflammation in my face, back and neck pain and impaired ROM, gout.

Improvements:
Days 1-3 lost belly fat and neck slimmed. Continued to lose water retention, which I’ve had most my life. Skin immediately started to get soft. Experienced detox – headaches, occasional pimple, eczema flairs first few days. Lost 4 pounds immediately, then flat. Would like to lose more weight, but I see my body reshaping. Still taking magnesium for constipation. Have noticed my neck and back popping and my ROM is improved, and neck/back pain appears to have gone away. Before I went raw I had a horrible cold that wouldn’t go away. Topped off by my allergies, my throat was constantly raspy from drainage. I have seen a lot of drainage, and the raspiness is much better, although I am still suffering from allergies quite a bit. It's Texas! My face looks really good now. Puffiness, redness, eczema are mostly gone. The biggest thing I've seen is that I now have veins!!! Previously when I had to have bloodwork, as many as 5 people would try to get blood and fail. Now I seem plump veins in my hands, feet, and even think they might find something in my arm if they tried. Overall, thrilled with results. Would like to still lose weight and understand more about detox. HW - 148, CW - 144, Goal - 130'ish, but I'm more into being healthy.

Congratulations on your 30 days and success. That's awesome.

I'm just over 30 days myself and was kind of wondering the same thing. My biggest issue is brain fog and just generally feeling out of it. I know that's a symptom of detox but it's starting to become annoying and I often wonder if I'm getting the right nutrition.

I'm eating a very wide variety of fruits and veggies and lots of them. So I'm pretty sure I'm getting what I need but it still makes me wonder.

I know detox can last a long time and is different for every person. I guess I just wanted to say I can sympathize and relate, and I hope for both our sake, that we'll be in the clear in no time. :)

Also Congratulations on your 30 Days and to a RAWonderful Life. Not sure I can answer the Total Question, so I'll answer what I can.

Constipation is Not usually a part of RAW, that is one of the First things to leave. Detox effect everyone different. It's all, what you have to release from your Body. Some have low detox and some later in RAW can still experience detox. So there are No set rules.

Fatigue was Big for me but I soon discovered it was My New signal for Hunger, so I would eat and it would go away. Water also makes things move, speeding the process up.

I've never heard of gout surfacing during detox, usually things like that leave during detox. That is why we are ALL different.

As far a Blood Work, they still have to Slap on Me, trying to get them to POP-Up. One Nurse told me to, it was Mandatory for me to bring My Veins with me. HA...

OKAY.........Next..

Thanks for the encouraging thoughts! My hubby's cooked food smelled really good yesterday, which normally doesn't bother me, but I'm doing too well to cave in. Even with detox, overall tons better than before. Got that glow going in my face, too. Thanks again for the responses. Good to know folks who are livin' this.

I am starting on my 3rd month and still have detox symtoms from time to time. I have read some raw foodiest detox up until 2 years with cleansing episodes. Keep going and you will feel better.

What kinds of detox are people experiencing? Just curious...because I never really experienced any.

I have eczema that flairs, especially on my face. When I first went raw, I had a few pimples pop up. Tired/headaches, although that pretty much left after first day or two of raw. It can be anything, typically some symptom that you may have already had in the past that becomes worse.

What about getting "sick"? How would someone know if they're detoxing or just have a cold?

Hi,I just started my juice detox....Using mainly carrot juice...up to 2L/per day!
Eating also salads of fresh raw veggies and fruits now,as only juice was making me loose to much weight.
I mix carrot with celery or beets most days do get a better flavor and more nutrients added in my diet.
I would say my diet now is 99% raw and 1% steamed!
In the first 3 days was ok,great energy and all,but from that point on,hell come loose.lol
I have diarrhea, urinate lots, mild depression, low energy, hemorrhoids flare-up,sinus starting to drain lots of fluid, white coat on tong, feel like crying for no reason at all,etc....Are these normal detox symptoms, how long will they last?
When will I fell better?
I hate having diarrhea, will it go way,I used to suffer from constipation before the detox?

You are definitely detoxing. When I went to a raw retreat that did a strong detox program the symptoms were very strong. One night I had to get up to go to the bathroom at least 10 times. I had headaches, all that stuff. If you want to get through it fast, and you can afford to feel pooey, stick with it. It would think it would last a few days to a week at best. BUT, that's a guess. Everyone is different, so it depends on the amount of detox required. I think I read somewhere that adding more good fats into the mix will slow down the detox. I've been raw for 2 months now, but I'm still detoxing at times, but not where I'm debilitated, and I'm not limiting my fats and fruits. I started this thread wanting to know generally how long detox takes, and bottom line, I don't think there's a good answer. I think you go through a strong detox up front. I think there is a lot of healing that needs to happen, so during that process of rebuilding a healthy body, you have more detox, but typically at that point you're beyond being really pooey. Hope that helps. Hang in there!!! Think of all that garbage you're releasing, and give thanks for an amazing body that is able to heal itself.
