Ok, i've just sent an e-mail to the colon hydrotherapist in my area requesting an appointment. I'm a little freaked out.

But i guess there are a few of you who've been through a ch session before, right? Well, i just felt like i needed a bit of support, cos i have a few questions..

- How do i prepare? Do i need to fast before, or drink laxative teas or anything? This might soud funny, but i'm afraid i'll have too much "in the way" and that i'll clog the hose (or what you call it). I mean, when i've seen pics from CH sessions, the hoses are soooo tiny! My bm's ar huge compared to that.. Please help me clear this out, i know you have the experience, people :D

- I have this idea that it might make me feel very weak, or dizzy, as if i was about to faint. Have you ever experienced anything like that? I'm a little anxious about fainting, dunno why...

- How do you feel afterwards? Do you need to rest for a long time after?

Thanks a lot for any input, i'm a bit anxious, but mostly i think it's gonna be a fun experience

Peace

i almost died from mine. i should of been hospitalised for severe dehydration but instead i stayed up for a full 2-3 days drinking water every 10 seconds to a few minutes.

you must drink gallons of water in the week...many gallons. don't listen to any body that saids you need not prepare. i asked the guy and told him i don't drink water and he said i'd be fine. he lied to me and played it off afterwards after i told him i'm deathly ill and he had the freaking balls to try to convince me to come in for another that day. then he admitted i was right and he did a wrong regarding my diet and shouldn't of gotten a colonic and he knew it... after i told him i found info on the net etc. i will NEVER get one again!!!!!!!! NEVER. even if i drink a billion gallons of water in a week and eat all raw etc...

any sign of deyhdration.... IMMEDIATELY pull the plug!!!!!!! don't freaking listen to them you are ok.

it's good you ask... all you hear about are the great things it does and thelucky ones to of survuved it... you have to search and key words searches and it took me freaking over an hour to find out colonics dehydrate you.... few practioners will tel you the dangers because they need your money and most people back out of these invasive sessions... so they likely won't tell you the possiable dangers.

good luck

Make sure that whoever you use is properly trained and certified.

ps

it's been so many years but basicaly the only practioner i could find that really cared about her clients and was strict who she let in her office because of the health dangers and had people checked FIRST for digestive disorders etc... i don't know her website any more.

if you have any digestive problems, cancer or don't drink much water... don't do it. bottom line.

drink a a couple gallons of water every day for a week i am almost certain she recommended.

again....... do not trust these people unless you know for sure. the BBB does NOT contain ther information nor does the medical field.... i could not file complaints about this guy to warn people. i forget who they said i could call but they said would basicaly do no good.

Oh my..

Now i'm seriously reconsidering. Your story, pixie, that's really scary having something like that happening without warning or anything.

The women who own the centre hav both been doing it for over 10 years, and the walls of their office has lots of diplomas, and their website lists the schools where they've been trained i think. So hopefully they're trained properly, and when they call me back i will definitly ask a lot of questions regarding dehydration.
Thank you so much for sharing this!

the guy that did me was the owner and went to school and had the top of the line equipment.
i had to fill out a questionaire sheet on my health. i clearly stated i've had the runs for months, heartburn, unknown food allergies, had a black stool for weeks recently and ill, alcoholic and don't drink water.. only beer, soda and coffee.
i told him this on the phone first and asked if this is ok and need to prepare and he said no that this will benefit me.
i knew something wasn't right.. my intuition told me loud and clear but i trusted him since he's liscensed etc.
i told him i'm dying of thirst and keeps getting worse... he said the gatorade would fix me and didn't... even after i left there for hours my thirst kept increasing getting worse.
i didn't go to the hospital because i had no money nor insurance. my dad paid for my colonic.
then that night i did hours of research....

i'm serious man... if you don't have a healthy stool don't do it.
if you don't drink enough water or get healthy fluids don't do it.
if you have any concerns of any type of digestion problem... get checked first! in fact... get first period.

i'm not an expert in this feild and it sounds unlikely that a colonic can dehydrate you or cause problems to your digestive and or cancer... you'd think it wouldn't... but for some reason it can and may.

hey... i think they can be wonderful i guess... people say so... i just won't be tryng it again.
did people get colonics back 1000 years ago?? it seems unnatural to me. eating raw organic seems natural and will heal over time. i've paid attention to my stools.

to each their own. i apologise for my energy being so alarming... but really... i speak from experience man. and as i said... not all practioners are not in the best interest for you... some do care... some don't. just be careful andknow you can trust... just don't trust that diploma on the wall.... and remember it isn't that easy to find complaints. you have to call a specific number only to complain and i don't think it's open to the public because they aren't doctors and can't get on the medical BBB nor the regular BBB.

Again, thank you for sharing!

My situation might be a bit different though, since i don't drink alcohol, haven't had caffeine for months, and can't ever remember when i had soda last.
I've been all raw for over a month, i drink at least 2 qts of water a day in addition to eating mainly fruits and vegetables. Before raw i was vegan for years, never had any problems with my stool ever.

I wanted to do the colonic "for fun", to boost the healing process. I understand your urge to warn people! I would too if i had had the experience you had!

then you probably will be ok i am assuming if your health is ok etc.

so you find it a fun thing to do? ahahaha. this is a first for me hearing some one say that! lol
but i know what you mean.

when i did it... it came out into this tunnel thing... it was clear glass and could see everything coming out. it doesn't hurt, but is uncomfortable a little bit with the tube in there and jetting water.

Springtime,
I've been getting colonics for 6 or 7 years now and absolutely love the clean feeling I have after a session. I think what pixie is describing is basically a lack of electrolytes in the colon combined w/dehydration. If you're having regular bm's (1-3 per day), you should be fine; matter of fact, raw foodists are always the best candidates for cht because they are so hydrated, drink lots of water and eat such a clean diet and this helps the body to cleanse itself during the session. You may want to up the kombucha tea and fermented vegs to help nurture the good bacteria in your colon as well. Most ppl have increased energy and love the feeling of a colonic!

Good luck and keep us posted on how you do!! :D

I've also been considering getting one, after hearing Matt Monarch speak and rave about them... I'd love to hear any positive or negative experiences with them!

I've had a few in the last year and I always have a really good experience - I feel amazing afterward too. More energy, fewer cravings, just overall really good. Talk to your hydrotherapist before you go to get your questions answered. There are different methods & each person's style is a little different, so it's good to talk to them directly.

Bri brings up a good point.... talk w/your hydrotherapist first..... i prefer the "closed" systems over the open ones..... much less chance of contamination and more relaxing ;)

I'm with Victoria Boutenko on this and take my cues from my closest "natural" relatives, the chimpanzees. I've never seen one of them with a water hose up their bum. Sorry, too unnatural for me.

I looked into them and can't honestly see how they affect your health. Your only clearing out the lower part of the colon and the waste above it remains...doing it's thing (read; all the things it naturally does while in your body and the whole reason people say you should clear it out!). It (the colonic) may make you feel lighter and 'cleaner' as I think someone worded it, but it doesn't seem to provide any actual health benefit from the info I was able to find. The claims for it's efficacy seem to be largely anecdotal...

I'm not saying don't...that's your choice :) However, do research it well and see what evidence there is that it even does anything they claim... I know I changed my mind after looking into it more.

I also did it for "fun" to see what everybody's raving about.

I've been raw almost 2 years and was in the midst of MC fast and colon cleanse. I thought it didn't help me much because my mucoid plaque won't fit thru the tubing. Nothing came out as I was fasting. It did help move my MP down faster I guess, but it got stuck. I had to end the session early to let it out the natural way.

It was a good experience overall. However, the therapist kept insisting that I need to buy her bottle of probiotics and that my homemade Kombucha has no probiotics in it. I was turned off at that point and wouldn't recommend her to any of my friends. I wouldn't recommend the CHT in general. That's just me.

I'm glad I did it though and wouldn't do it again.

Booked my appointment, i'm going next week. I'll make sure to drink lots of water in addition to all this fruit i'm eating, to minimize any risks.

I spoke to the woman i'm going to, and she'd been doing them for 10 years, they're the only place in the area that does them, so i'm pretty sure they'd be out of buisiness if they weren't any good.

i'll let you guys know how it goes!

man i am so sorry to keep giving "negative" alert feedbacks... really i'm not trying to talk people out of it and that my bad experiences are doomed to happen to everyone else etc...

but the guy i saw was the only one in like 50-150 miles radius. and he absolutely should not be practicing.... he seriously needs to be banned.

make sure to follow your intuition. if any doubt or anything..your intuition saying something isn't right.. just don't do the session... leave.

ok. :) i'm finsihed here i think.

ps (haha) at least it got a bunch of yeast out of me then.... barely any poop came out. apparently this is common.. takes 2 or 3 sessions if it starts that way.

i've done years of colon cleanses, but not CH. I've found that drinking lots of pure water and a Kale/Celery smoothie every day will blast out all the junk in your system in pretty short order and it's NON invasive. There are some very good vegan colon cleanses out there that will rip out all the mucoid plaque (the reason for getting CH in the first place) and they are safe and gentle. Check them out.

Your mileage may vary, see dealer for details...
