Hi everyone
I'm transitioning from a cooked vegan diet to raw food. Over the last 3 weeks I've cut down to one cooked meal per week. My diet is mostly blended soups, green smoothies, sprouts, and salads. I've also stopped smoking (as of 2 weeks ago). I still drink coffee and a bit of soy milk but have cut my intake by more than half, and I plan to cut it out altogether.
Even though this feels like a slow transition for me, I've been getting zits for the first time in years. I've had about 4 in the last 3 weeks, and I'm noticing some clogged pores. From the reading I've done, this seems like a detox symptom.
I feel great on raw food at the moment, but a bit self conscious about my skin. Can anyone share some insight about when the detox will stop? I'm wondering whether the slow transition is worth it. Maybe I should bite the bullet and just do 99% raw to get all the toxins out for good. I'm not worried about caffeine withdrawal because I'm substituting with green tea.
Thanks for any help/advice. I really don't want months of spotty skin and clogged pores just because I'm trying to transition slowly.
On the flip side, do people still experience detox even after eating 99% raw for several weeks/months/years? I'd just like to be prepared!
