Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you guys had any idea about what could be causin these problems I'm having.

For about the last 3 years I've had some sort of unexplained negative reaction to eating sweet melons. I had eaten the typical melons for all my life and absolutely love em. The only problem is that when I eat a moderate portion of them I feel very nauseous in my stomach/throat, almost like I"m going to throw up. Luckily it's never gotten that bad, but for about 30-45 minutes my stomach doesn't feel good.

Any ideas?

I've had stomach pains/nausea from eating quantities of watermelon - unlike anything I've experienced overeating anything else. But I have no problems with the juice or smaller portions. It's funny because I can eat huge amounts of other things like apples or bananas or salads...not that that's a good thing to do!

Wow, I"m the exact way. Even though about a year ago whenever I'd eat a banana I'd get an itchy throat, and the tiniest nausea.

I wonder what it could be.

Watermelons are mostly water, but have a high glycemic index. Maybe the sugar content is too much for you to handle. Does it happen with organically-grown watermelons? If so, that would rule out pesticides.

I don't like watermelons, but I used to like other melons like cantaloupe and honeydew. And I used to be able to eat them. But one day, we went to one of those buffets at some casino where we were staying. They didn't have much I could eat some I took some melon. That was all I had. Gave me such horrid stomach pains, I couldn't move.

Eventually, a wait person came by and said we had to leave. We had been there that long! It was all I could do to hoist myself up and leave.

Since then, even one bite of melon causes the stomach pains. I don't know why. I just don't eat melon any more.

I wonder if you have a latex allergy or sensitivity.

"Latex allergy and food
Around half of all people with latex allergy have allergic reactions when eating particular foods including avocado, banana, chestnut, kiwifruit, passionfruit, plum, strawberry and tomato. This is because some of the proteins in latex that cause latex allergy are also present in these fruits. Common symptoms include tingling in the mouth, stuffy nose, itchy eyes and wheezing."

People with this allergy also have trouble with lillies from my understanding.

I would google watermelon allergy and check it out. Lots of interesting info.

Also I know sometimes we are allergic to whats on the outside more then the inside. You have to wash your melons. Cantalope and such tend to have molds on the outside that people have reactions to. If you buy them precut they may have already cut thru the mold and deposited it inside.
My friend went to a food specialist for her allergies and found out all this stuff.

I know it's not latex, and we buy whole fruit and wash them all very well. It's not just watermelon, but honeydew and canteloupe too.

It's also nothing but this deep nauseous feeling in my stomach. I had always eaten watermelon my whole life, but around 3 years ago I just started to notice that it made me feel a bit sick.

It may pass at some point. Allergies seem to disappear after a while of eating raw.

I hope so for you....watermelon so ymm!!! I have one to partake of today...and YES I am going to eat the whole thing!!!

Watermelon is my favorite food but I can't eat it because it makes the whole side of my face hurt to the point of blurry vision. :(

Maybe because it's not a real watermelon that God originally made for us.

I went to 4 markets looking for a watermelon with seeds. I CAN'T find a watermelon WITH seeds. All these seedless watermelons have been gentically modified by some a human. I wonder what else they did to the melon when they removed the seed. I want food as God orginally intended it to be.

Please leave the carrots, tomato, watermelons, bananas, and almonds alone!!!
