Soak a cupfull of almonds overnight. soak 8 dates seperatly. Put all and some water in the blender and strain when done. You can use as much water as you like depending on how tasty you want it. I eat the pulp that is left in the strainer but I do not know if everyone else does

I sweeten mine with bananas. Once I used apples (when I was out of bananas) and the apple worked too.

I'm curious ... doesn't the banana turn the milk brown after it sits for a while? Does the flavor come through, or does it just taste like regular almond milk? I never would have thought of using bananas.

After you create the almond milk from the above recipe, add some to a blender, through in a couple of frozen bananas and fresh strawberries, a dash of vanilla and if you want, some agave and you'll have a strawberry milkshake.

Eliminate the strawberries and add raw carob and you've got a chocolate one.

The almond milk will turn slightly brown from the bananas, but my kids still drink it.

The flavor of bananas does come through!

It sounds like everyone else makes their almond milk the same way I do, but I thought I would share a cute story!

I had been making my own almond milk for a while, but the price of almonds went up and I just got lazy, so I would buy it from the store (ewww... too many chemicals, but..) Anyway.. I decided to take this one meal at a time to acheive my goal of soon being back to all raw. I found out that I actually had a ton of almonds left in my cupboard. Well, I soaked a few last night to make almond milk. My ds gets up this morning and grabbed a bowl of cereal (we have not convinced him to eat raw, but I don't allow dairy in his diet). He saw that I was making almond milk and said he wanted THAT milk! Then when he was eating he said that this almond milk was better than that junk from the store and he did not understand why I didn't make my own ALL the time. He also said he prefered it over cow's milk... THAT is a BIG step!

Well, nothing like a kick in the seat from your kiddo to get you going, eh! I thought it was great that he actually prefers the healthy almond milk though.... maybe there is hope for him!

Hey Rawadventures,

That's huge! I let my kids samply my raw attempts, and they have rejected nearly every one so far. I just made some (non raw) cashew milk yesterday. I loved it (though it is definitely sweeter than soymilk or cow's milk). I haven't try to offer it to my kids yet, but this entry gives me hope.
