I was going to try and incorporate some nuts back into my diet, and with my digestion issues I know I need to soak them for awhile before I eat them.

My question is, once I place the nuts in a jar, cover them with water, do I stick them in the fridge, or leave them on the counter?

Another question, is how long can I leave them in there to soak?
Once I drain them, and put them into a container, how long will they stay in the fridge?

Are there any recipes or reasons that I would not want to soak them first?
I want to make Cashew Butter tomorrow, so I put the cashews in water to soak tonight in a jar, with the lid on it, right?
I don't want to mess any nuts up by doing it wrong, they are too expensive to throw out.

Thanks!!
Cathy

Cashew and Mac's don't need to be soaked. They are soft Nuts and I don't find the need to soak them. Other Nuts I would soak at least an hour. You can soak them, then dehydrate them and they will store easily out of the Fridge.. They store longer in the Freezer.

Try soaking sunflower seeds overnight and eating them for breakfast. No need to refrigerate them.

I always soak cashews that makes them much easyer to digest. It differ depends on what book you read but most advise 8-12 houres max. otherwise they can start to grow mold or ferment. but minimum 2 houres. I have somtimes only soaked them for 20 minutes if I forgot to take out the nuts. But the result is way better after minimum 2 houres. 8 is even better (or over night). You can for 2-3 houres leave them out on the counter but for a overnight thing I would put them in the fridge.

If you have digestive issiues I would surgest that you blend the soaked and rinsed nuts with a little water. I have found that that makes them even more digesteble.

Thank you!!

I soaked them overnight in a glass jar, then I ran them in the dehydrator till they were dry.

I want to try some almond milk today, and then a dessert or two, so I can put some in the freezer to have on hand.

Once I dehydrated them I put them in a glass jar and then stored them in the fridge, is this right?

Thank you
Cathy
