I have a poop problem and am wondering if anyone out there has/had this problem or if anyone might know what is wrong with me...

My husband calls it "broken butt". Sounds funny, but he and I are a little worried about it, too.

So, for oh, I don't know, maybe 3 years or so my poop has been the consistency of oatmeal. When I was eating cooked food, IF I ate something processed, like Pizza Hut type meal, I would actually have "normal" looking poop. But most of the time I ate a fairly healthy diet of cooked whole grains, fruits, and veggies. When I ate these foods, I would get the "broken butt".

Now that I am raw I notice that in the morning and early afternoon when I only comsume green smoothies, I actually have "normal" poop. I usually will go potty mid-afternoon and have been delighted to see that it looks "normal".

When I eat dinner, though, and the key word is EAT (i.e., not straight from the VitaMix...) I will potty again before bed and it's "broken butt" again.

I don't think this is right. I mean, I have to eat pureed food in order for my poop to be solid? Anyone else ever heard of this problem?

Any info or ideas would be great! Sorry for the yucky post. Trying not to sound too much like Sarah Silverman... :p

Define "normal" looking poop. :D If you eat watermelon for 2 days...say...and then you eat "Pizza Hut type meal" what do YOU expect to be a "normal" looking poop? I myself like the consistency of oatmeal :D Whats normal? Consistency of?

Don't forget the programing of life....IF you eat mostly raw...I THINK your poop will have a different consistency....than if you eat breads, meat, dairy/cheeses those digest more slowly and compact in the digestive tract...is that the "normal poop" your talking about?

Who defined normal? And what is it? Who defined "broken butt" and what is it? Do you watch TV? LOL j/k :D Now they will tell you whats normal...

I actually don't think you have a "broken butt" or a "poop problem" I think you have been programmed to think differently about "normal" :D

I love to poop 3-5 times daily...and most of them aren't "normal" LOL...I hate "normal" LOL

get this checkedout by a doc. I am not big on doctors or modern medicine in general, but if something is wrong, then you can focus your raw eating to address whatever is going on.

to have a big change in your bm's and have it stay that way would be, for me, a red flag. Granted, our poop changes with what we eat, but if you hadn't changed your eating when the poop started looking different, definitely go to a doc!

Are you going back and forth from raw to crappy food? Then, unfortunately, you are really trashing your digestion system and then your eliminations. Eat all Raw! And if you eat any cooked food, be very careful; be aware of food that will scorch your intestines, like gluten/wheat flour products, cheese, etc.

And go get some good quality pro-biotics to encourage much-needed healthy bacteria to boost your digestive abilities. Better yet, learn to make your own sauerkraut.

Keep us updated on your broken butt! :)

The transit time from when a food is eaten varies from person to person and also varies with the fiber eaten. When you eat a meal and then go to the bathroom the elimination you get is not from the last meal eaten but is more likely from some time the day before and has been in the "pipeline" for awhile. Good luck.

Since going raw I have had green loose BM,s once a day. No other kind and I only go once a day. If I eat raw carrots for dinner they are out in the morning. Carrots just don't like me.
I would think with all the fiber we eat they would be more formed "normal" consistency.

i don't think i've seen or just didn't pay any attention to cattle poop. but yeah... first time i went raw and kept pooping green i was expecting neigh to come out of my mouth at any given time. it struck me rather strange.
