Hey all!
so I jammed/sprained a finger.....looking up first aid, it's nsaid and RICE.
I of course don't want to take the nsaid - then I wondered about the Rice, rest & elevation, - ok, now the ice and compression....
It's all to prevent swelling, so I wondered why prevent swelling, why doesn't our body do what best for us?
Any thoughts?
I did ice it on and off for a few hours, compression on a finger is tricky, but I usually love an ace bandage on sprains, feels better.
also - any advice for quick healing?
THX!

Usually when I injure something I slather with Sunbreeze from Sunrider. In lieu of that, peppermint oil tends to work VERY well. Many will use ummm, hmmm, that one that begins with an "a", I think. I've never used it because my Sunbreeze always tends to work ~ unless I forget to use it as I did with my ankle.

Sounds like interesting stuff - will have to get some.
It lists Eucalyptus oil - I have that at home, I could put some of that on?

icing reduces the swelling of the tissue so that the blood can once again flow to the site of the injury and carry with it the repair cells and also carry away the debris. with swelling the fluid is accumulating but not leaving. sure you can skip this but it will take longer for the swelling to go down , which takes longer for the blood flow to resume which will probably result in some damaged tissue on a microlevel. even wild animals will walk into a cold river or lake when injured :)

Arnica is a blessing when sprained or any trauma to the body. It aids the body to heal itself. It is a homeopathic remedy at the HFS.
I fell off a ladder on my tailbone and the arnica healed it so much faster. Also my mom fell off a chair and she usually suffers terribly after a fall(she is almost 80) and she was all fine then and next day on.
I have countless testimonials for this but spare you. I have it onhand always for trauma of any sort.

Yes. Absolutely! Arnica is what I was thinking of. I've not used it but many recommend it. ;) 's @ CG.
