(Disclaimer: I know raw is all about what i feel and what my body needs at the moment, but i'm curious and want to talk about it. So i'm not forgetting the basics, i'm just intrigued by the details ;) )
When i read about raw foods i often notice the suggestion to eat lighter foods in the morning and "heavier" foods later in the day, like having green smoothies for breakfast and a grain-based meal in the afternoon. As i understand it this is related to optimal digestion, as well as what the body needs in the detox process.
I, on the other hand, feel completley the opposite: i want a grain-based, heavy breakfast and a fruit salad for dinner. I've tried doing it the other way round, and ended up feeling starved, nauseous and light headed.
What are your thoughts? Does your body agree with the "fruit before noon" thing, or do you have your own style?
Peace

Like you said, go with what you feel your body needs :)
I generally switch it up. Lately I've been having berries and organic carrots for breakfast and an apple if I want something extra. I also like having a fruit smoothie in the morning. Generally whatever I crave, I have and don't go by any rules.

I normally have light sweet fruits in the morning, "heavier" eg. fatty things (cocnut, avocado, sometimes nuts) for lunch and salad/vegetables for dinner. But I can't help snacking sweet fruits in between.

For me, it varies from day to day. Most of time time I don't eat anything until I finish working out around 10am or sometimes even later. Nevertheless, what I mostly eat in the morning and/or early afternoon is fruit. There are days though when I'm really hungry in the morning and want something filling and comforting and then I'll make soaked oat groats or nut/seed cereal but that's been maybe 3 - 5 times in the last 5 months.

90% of the time for me it's just fruit in the morning.
But that can mean anywhere from small amounts to huge amounts of fruit, and all kinds of fruit, but usually including bananas as these are quite filling.
I've just gotten into the habit of eating this way, partly because it's really convenient (they come ready packed and can be easily eaten on the way to work) but partly because any time I have to get up early, the last thing I want to do is eat heavy foods. First thing in the morning it feels like my body just says 'ergh.. get that heavy crap away from me!'
BUT, if it's the weekend and I get up lots later, then it's a different story. I could eat pretty much anything. I think it's a matter of my body fully waking up and becoming active before it can process harder to digest foods.
But do what your body feels is good for you!

On the most part I will have green smoothies for breakfast and lunch and then a large salad for dinner. That's basically what my routine is thus far.
If I don't have time to prepare green smoothies I will munch on fruit salad all day long and for dinner salad.

for me it depends also. On days that I weight train (3 days a week), I usually want to heavier breakfast like a green smoothie with vega and hemp protein, or soaked raw buckwheat with homemade sesame milk. I just let myself have it and not worry about it.
On days I don't work out hard, I will just have a green smoothie with just greens, 1/2 avocado, 1/2 cucumber, stevia and lime (from the pH miracle folks) or watermelon when its in season-yeah!

Lately I've been wanting a more heavy breakfast and eating lighter in the evenings. I've found that I sleep better when I eat very light in the evenings.

Listen to no one but your own mind, body and soul that's what I do, there are always people out there that would say do this and don't do that, this is good that is bad you'll end up confused.
Be happy and eat what your body needs.

Springtime, thanks for bringing this up! I am currently experimenting, because my body seems to change day to day and I have a hard time planning it out. Sometimes I want guac first thing, other times it's lemonade 'til noon.
There are 6 billion people on the planet. I don't think even one food concept, however generalized, is going to fit every single one of us! Unless, of course, we're talking about the necessity of eating all raw!
Glad I'm not the only one who likes to analyze this stuff . . . the process fascinates me! Realized today my mind is weeks ahead of where my body is in terms of raw food, and that analyzing the whole thing will give me something to do until the two catch up! :)

I'm thinking that my green smoothie isn't quite enough for breakfast for me... I eat (drink) it pretty early, too and I'm not able to eat it at work, but I'm getting hungry for a snack a couple hours later. I guess since fruits are qiuck exit foods it makes sense... So lately I'll have my GS and then later in the moring snack on a banana and some raw almonds.
I might try soaking some oats for breakfast instead. Maybe that'll stick with me longer.

Starting weight (I think! :D ) I lost a good bit of weight before going raw so I don't want to misreprsent my weight loss and make folks think I did it going raw... HTH (hope that helps ;) ).

I drink a quart of green smoothie throughout the morning, then around 2-5 PM I'll have some veggies and hummus, maybe some guacamole, or cheese or a huge salad. Then I snack on fruit in the evening. I rarely have any smoothie after 5 PM unless I make up a quart for the next day then I'll have a glassful. If I am hungry after some fruit I'll have some seeds or maybe a nut/seed bar but that doesn't happen very often as I don't seem to get hungry anymore, probably because I graze all day long, lol!

Heavy starchy fruits (like banana) doesn't sit very well with me in the early morning. Typically I start off with light crisp fruit (apples, pears, oranges) and then slowly eat a banana afterwards. Midday to dinner I can eat bananas fine, but not on an empty stomach.
Fatty foods also go down very well at any point during the day, but are especially easy to digest in the morning.
