So I know that you can get wheatberries at Whole Foods, and of course beans and lentils, but I was wondering about some of the harder to find grains like Kamut or rye and that kind of thing. I read that it's a good idea to rotate between juicing grasses so that the body is less likely to develop an allergy or something. Not sure if that's really true, but it seems like it might make sense.

I know about sproutpeople.com, but their prices seem really high. Like a pound of wheatberries is 3.55 versus 1.50 at Whole Foods, plus you have to pay for shipping. Is the stuff you get there somehow better for sprouting? I guess I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to get things like Kamut locally. At least one health food store near me didn't have that kind of thing.

Thanks,

Jeffrey

No need to order it if you can find it locally. My local kamut grains seem to sprout just fine. They taste wonderful, too!

Edit - sorry I misunderstood your post at first. You are trying to find kamut locally! I would suggest you look for a smaller local health foods store. They usually carry some more unusual things than the 'chains' like Whole Foods. Secondly, you should ask them at Whole Foods if they can either special order for you or stock it.
