I went off raw foods for a short time and recently got back on the raw wagon so I am going through detox all over again. This time though it's allergy season and my eyes are very dry (everything is actually.. I went through that last time) but now they itch badly and I've pretty much rubbed them so the skin around my eyes is very sensitive and raw. I'm trying not to touch them and have been rubbing a little coconut oil on them to keep them from drying out, but it's not helping that much.. it is a little though.. My husband said that I should see a doctor if doesn't clear up but I hate doctors and would rather use something that is more natural. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am going crazy.. :( AND I look horrible with red swollen eyes, lol..

aside from prescription eye drops (steroids) the only thing that helped me when I suffered with that problem was a very warm washcloth over the eyes

lol, I just did that.. :) I don't know.. I am going to try and not touch or rub them and hopefully this will be enough to make it better.

You can get OTC allergy drops. Also get some tear free baby shampoo and scrub your eyes with it, rinsing well. Do this at least twice a day, more often if you can. It will clean out all the gunk.

Do NOT put coconut oil in your eyes. That will only make things worse!

I literally had to pour water over my eyes to wash them out it was so bad. That was the only thing that helped. And keeping the car windows shut.

Thankfully the allergies have disappeared since going raw. Good luck.

I had a nurse tell me just make my own saline solution by adding a teaspoon of salt to a quart of water, although I never tried it myself. I just googled to be sure it was a teaspoon and this page explains the risks involved if you still want to go ahead and try it.

Stinging Nettle, MSM and extra vitamine C works wonders for me here doring pollon season. Have been using this combo for the last two years (well I added the MSM this year and it helps on my asthma symtoms).
This is waaaaaay better than what the doc can come up with :D

Wheat Grass ;)
This is a recommendation - one I learned from my raw food teacher

fill eye cup with 1/2 pure water, 1/2 wheat grass juice
Place securely over eye, tilt head , open eye for 2-3 seconds, remove and wipe face clean- do not rinse out eye after wheatgrass wash.

I would always recommend talking to your personal care physician before trying any treatment.

Thanks.. :) I don't have wheat grass here but if the baby shampoo doesn't work I will go get some and try that. Thanks!!
