Everyone is different. Safely, give it a few months and also combine it with lots of exercise.

I've been about 95% raw for 4 1/2 weeks, I've lost 20lb so far. I guessing 10lb of it is water, so I say to myself i lost 10lb.
another 40lb to go,

It is so different for everyone... I lost 22lbs the first week I went raw... I then noticed that my clothes sizes started to change faster then the number on the scale. I hope that weighing yourself won't sabotage your results as some times you might find yourself losing more inches then pounds.
As someone who previously used raw food as a fad diet, I would have to say that it is much more important to build sustainable habits rather than just try to lose weight fast.
A few years ago, I jumped into 100% raw for weight loss. I lost 38 pounds doing 100% raw for 4 months (actually I did 6 months of raw, but 4 months 100% raw, and 2 months 50-60% raw). However, at the end I couldn't do the "diet" any longer and went back to my old ways. I started binging, as I had felt deprived all those months. Over the next year of eating cooked foods with lots of cheese etc, I gained 55 pounds and was the fattest I'd ever been in my life.
Although fast weight loss is exciting, it's far more important to build proper habits that will give you SUSTAINABLE weight maintenance in the long-run. Many of us have tried diets in the past only to gain the weight back. So it's important for us to do things right this time by changing our lifestyle instead of dieting. Focus on getting healthy, and let the weight loss come at it's own time. That's what I am doing this time around.
Please note... the reason I am making the above comments, is because I find that the people who are the most antsy to see the weight loss quickly, are the same people to get discouraged and go off their 'diet' and binge on junk when the weight loss doesn't come as quickly as they'd like. Many have an all-or-nothing mentality. I don't want you to be one of those people who has such high expectations for weight loss and then gets disappointed. The weight loss most likely WILL happen, but one has to let it happen at its own speed, and enjoy the other benefits of raw besides the weight loss. Rather than trying to deprive yourself without nuts for faster weight loss, maybe find something that works and is long-term sustainable for you. Maybe you could consider the option of not eating nuts later on when you've been consistently raw for a long time, and for now just keep a flexible approach to eating raw.

If you eat green smoothies, fruits and salads with no nuts, oils or fatty fruits like avocado & coconuts you may lose 12-15 pounds a month on average... so 65 pounds could come off in 5-6 months.
Staying with green smoothies, fruit and salad is a really big favor for your body. AND you may detox strongly especially at first.. which can mean skin issues, digestion issues, moods, blues.
It might be more comfortable and sustainable both during and afterward if moderate amounts of raw nuts, raw oils and avocados are included.

Thanks for all the replies!
Actually I am doing this not only for weight loss...that is a big part, but my main issue is binging of SAD food and the mood swings it causes. I want to control food, not have it control me!
I also am very concerned about disease prevention and this is why I am giving up diet soda as well. It's 4pm and haven't had one today!
My first day so far....fruit all morning, canteloupe and a large apple. Lunch, large romaine salad, and lots of vegies, oil and cider vinegar (organic), snack grapes.
Okay...I am feeling great! Even tho, I am hungry (preparing dinner now), I don't have the urge to binge on carbs! That is amazing for me!
I feel the hunger, but I don't feel like I need to just EAT! I feel in control
I am also a homeschooling mom and I NEED to have this control over my life...
so yes, the weight loss will be exciting, but my main reason is to control my mood swings and carb binging...
So far, im loving it!

remember... your body needs healthy fat to release unhealthy fat from your body. so be sure to add hemp/flax oils and avocados to your day.
above all... remember that you are worth it. you are worth the effort to be healthy. you are worth the effort to take loving care of yourself and feed yourself nourishing foods. you are worth it!!!

Hi Carly. I'm happy to meet you and to hear that you are doing well at the beginning of this journey to health. Your food sounds just great. I, too, am having to accept the fact that the weight loss may come far more slowly than I wish it to, but that isn't the most important thing here. Losing the cravings and the "fear" of food that always leads to my demise is so important. We will also gain more energy than we could have imagined, our moods even out, our skin will look fabulous and even firm up (better believe it!) and we will feel vibrant and gain mental clarity. I experienced all this last summer while sticking to raw food. I want all this back. Have you got Alissa's book or some other books which tell of others' experience with switching over to eating raw? The experience of others helps so much. Read all you can here and start a blog if you haven't already.
All the best little new rawbie!:D

I've found a couple of things about fat loss. First of all, the liver won't allow stored fat to be released until the body is detoxed to a certain point. Otherwise the liver can't handle the toxins that will come from the stored fat being released. Also, building up lean muscle tissue is necessary to burn off that stored fat, and burn more calories in general.
Its a process that just takes time. Some people can drop it faster than others. My feeling about that is that they are just less toxic and have more lean muscle tissue. Most important is to detox and exercise consistently and intensely enough to build muscle. thats what I've found to work miracles-but it just takes time. We just have to trust the process!
