I'm sure the answer to my question is somewhere on the board already, but I couldn't find it with a search. I was wondering why yogurt still has live enzymes and because it does, could it be considered a live food?
Thanks. sonja.
I don't know for sure but I would think that raw yogurt (made out of raw milk) is considered "raw" for sure. It certainly isn't vegan - but maybe that's not what you're going for.

I'm not vegan yet, but will hopefully get there. I bought some of the raw museli from Alissa's store, and it seems like it would be so good soaked in yogurt, but I guess thats not the best way to go. Yogurt and eggs have been my only weakness to being 100% vegan. I'll get there. I haven't started RAW yet, but I'm thinking I will tonight. I'm going shopping for a food processor and some groceries tonight and I thought that museli in the morning would be soo good with some yogurt! Does anyone have suggestions on ways to make the museli? Is there a raw yogurt receipe...I didn't even think to look. I'll do that now. Thanks. sonja.

Dairy is realy realy bad for your health. You would be advised to find a sub if you can or at least reduce it to the minimum

You could try soaking your muesli in some almond or other nut milk, fresh juice (I have cealic [sp] friends who use juice on their cereal) or you could make a nut type cream instead of yoghurt (can't remember, but off the top of my head try some soaked nuts with enough water for desired consistency and honey/agave/dates for a sweetener).

To answer your question, YES, yogurt is a live food, but it is not raw, as the milk to make yogurt has been pasturized to kill the bacteria, then they add acidophylus back in to make yogurt.
However, it is made from cow's milk. If you truly wish to see what cow's milkd can do to the human body, please go to www.notmilk.com and that will let you know how bad it truly is.

You can get yogurt made from goat's milk. White Egret Farm sells a goat yogurt made from raw goat's milk which has more probiotics than other yogurts. They ship all over the country - http://www.whiteegretfarm.com/html/yogurt.html
